Heated seat retrofit possible?

Wondering if it's possible to add factory heat to existing cloth seats that didn't come with heated seats?

Doh, that's what I was afraid of. It seems like it's impossible to retrofit anything with factory parts if they didn't come with it anymore...

Dealer here told me the Katzkin leather is really nice. I'm not sure if they heat the cloth seats or not.... It was a couple years ago, but I think it was around $1500 for the leather and the heat both.

I've not see any aftermarket heat options for the cloth, but then again, I haven't looked extensively.

You should be able to add OEM heated seats but it more than likely won't be cheap. If you're mechanically inclined, it shouldn't be too difficult either. To my knowledge, GM doesn't make an accessory kit for the K2 trucks like they did for the 900 series trucks so you have quite a few more needed parts. Here is a list of parts that I assume you would need if you didn't recreate the harnesses yourself are:

dash harness

heated seat control buttons

radio bezel

seat heating elements (I believe there are different heating elements for cloth vs leather seats)

seat harnesses

body harness

BCM programming

seat modules or just programming

If you do try, just find a pickup that is equipped similar to yours but with heated cloth seats and use that VIN when having the dealer source your parts. Make sure you have a good parts guy so he knows what he's actually looking for and can compare the RPO codes to ensure you get the correct harnesses so all your current options will still function. I've done this type of thing on a couple vehicles now as have been successful. I even accomplished things that GM said couldn't be done (they just don't like you messing with their product). Really nearly anything is possible as long as you have the time, money, effort and determination.

I had Katzkin do mine. From the dealer before we picked the truck up. Looks every bit like a OEM seat. Leather is very nice. I did get the heated seats in the front as well. Only thing different is that the heat control button is on the lower front part of the seat instead of on the dash.
