I believe the dealer can swap your vehicle "country code" in the BCM to change that

Correct. Truck is registered in the us

I have no idea how many vehicles cross the border when sold.

Maybe your issue is just that your dealer in TN has no clue. Maybe do a little googling for a major dealership near the border in NY or Mich or something and call them for help. Just a thought.

I'd avoid dealerships altogether, unless you need a system still under warranty repaired. You'll save yourself a TON of headaches.

You might have to branch out of your local area to find a shop willing to tackle this one, but most small independent garages will have the capability to fix this one. Whether they want to take it on or not is a different story. Has the potential to be a long, drawn out deal, which most shops want to avoid.

I know that it will have to have bcm flashed to usa from canada but seems no one can/will do it

No way in hell any dealer will do that. You'll have to find an independent garage.

Like I said, finding someone willing to do it is another story. If it doesn't go well, they have to eat a new BCM. I know one thing, no way I'd want that on my shoulders.

You're probably going to have to scour the internet, and make some phone calls to mobile programmers around the country, and pick their brains. If it's possible, or not, they'll tell you. There's a ton of guys these days now that do nothing but programming work. Some guys have no fear, while others (rightfully) won't dare risk losing money.

Had it done at the dealership to my BMW ? Wasn't a big deal, just found out how it was done and brought the instructions with me.

Another example of dealership being pretty cool, I just installed a 2" lift on my truck all the way around '17 Denali. They re calibrated my ride hight sensors for the magneride for free since they didn't know it was possible until I explained it all to them and showed the tech. Not a common procedure but built into the software.

Don't be discouraged, it will definitely not be a "common" procedure in a US dealership, so it may take some positive thinking and a little bit of research but I think it's doable !

Local dealership just said they will do it but it requires a vci code from tech support but gm tech support will not authorize them to get code.

Like I said ... the hell with the dealership!

Trust me - you'll save yourself ALOT of headaches just finding a competent independent programmer.
