I have been looking at buying a new trimmer to replace my 14yr old Shindaiwa T230.

I am looking at another Shindaiwa, the T242, and an Echo 2620. I have considered the Redmax, but for the money feel the Shindaiwa or Echo is the better value, plus a 5yr warranty!

Anyone use one of these trimmers, or a similar model to the ones I am looking at? I know Echo owns Shindaiwa, and the trimmers are similar to each other.

Not interested in other trimmers due to dealer support if needed.

TY!

Forgot to mention that a somewhat local Echo dealer is having a 20% sale this Sat. Just need to find out if they will have the 2620 in stock or not.

I'm usually a Stihl guy, but when it comes to trimmers I go with Echo. I have a modest level commercial type, like it much better than my last Stihl.

I don't know much about the other type you mention.

I've got a shindiawa and very happy with it. If I were to buy again it would be shindiawa or echo since they are essentially the same. I would however not buy from a big box store.

I had 3 craftsman over the span of 4 yrs.  Blew them all up.  Found out they were only rated a max of 100 hrs.  I jumped over to Echo.  Had a 5 yr warranty.  I am now into year 7+ with no issues.  Best trimmer I have ever had.  I also use 4 attachments (blower, edger, trimmer, and saw)

Go for am Echo commercial model and report back here how it has performed in 10 years.

Definitely looking at a ~mid level commercial model.

My 14 yr old Shindaiawa T230 is proof it’s worth the extra money!!!

I grew up using craftsmen trimmers. They worked, but as mentioned they don’t last.

TY all!!!

I used a Shindaiwa back in the day doing landscaping in college. I've got an Echo currently, and have no complaints with it or any of their other stuff I've used over the years. They'd also be easier to find maintenance parts for it as HD carries supplies.

I went with the Echo SRM 2620. Picked it up this past Sat during the 20% off sale.

I used it tonight for the first time. So far I am happy with it.

TY all!!!

No.  Get a Stihl gas.  can't stand the battery crap and can't stand the limitation of cords either.

This summer my neighbor was using a battery powered mower. He would cut 1/3 of the property then stop to charge. I would be fine sitting on the porch and at the same time half his yard was still not done. I’ll stick with gas
