Jennifer, perhaps you should read my original comment. Our highway is built on rolling-clay hills, there are next to zero flat areas. We do not have flat 4 lane concrete freeways stretching as far as the eye can see in my area. When you come over a hill, the vehicle coming up the hill will ALWAYS be UNDER your cut-off line, it does NOT matter how low or high my headlights are aimed, the approaching car will ALWAYS be under the line. It is the nature of projectors coupled with my regions geography, it is not my fault. I have a calibrated Symtech aimer that we use on our units every annual safety inspection. Now, with projectors and LED headlights being relatively new technology for common manufactures like GM, Ford, Dodge people are not used to it here and do not yet understand how a projector works or what a cut off line is, resulting in an irregular amount of high-beam flashing. Thanks for the advice though.  This is why you are starting to see "self levelling" or "Gyroscopic" headlamps being developed and used in countries like Australia as we speak.

Um, doesn't the lens just open all the way up and the light stays the same brightness when putting on your high beams? So basically they don't see any change in brightness and you are just flashing away and they aren't noticing but you think you are "letting them have it"...

 

This thread reminds me, who is the idiot on 35E last Thursday in Dallas with the leveled white 16+ Sierra blinding everyone? Had him behind me for 15 minutes just shinning away in my eyes (dimming mirror helped), felt really bad for anyone with a lower vehicle, especially cars. Adjust your bloody headlights, on flat surfaces your create nothing but ruckus to everyone.

Yeah, I have read that is how they work. It still makes me feel better though and it still is effective in my other vehicles that do have different output for high beams.

and what do we make of trucks towing heavily loaded trailers? I saw a couple of those scenarios this weekend on the freeway, thankfully going the other direction and not following me. I just thought about this thread. But I could tell from a mile away something was wrong with their lights. Sure enough, the heavy trailer was throwing off the level and the lights are pointing up in the sky. 

Now it would be common courtesy and increased safety for the driver to adjust the lights back to "normal" aim, but I'm sure nobody does this for a single trip with a trailer... its too bad. These new lights are so obnoxious. if one of these guys is following me on the freeway I am not a happy camper.

That is the beauty of having air bags in the rear, truck sits the same regardless of the load in the rear. I wish more companies offered them from the factory, seems to be more important now with softer suspension and brighter headlights.
