Don't know where there are drains in the other cab layouts, but my single cab has one right at the back corner. I drilled a ¼" hole in the plug for the cable to run through, and then gave it a thick dose of black rtv to seal it up good. Thanks for the inspiration to finally make my installation a little cleaner lol. 1
rocnrol Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 I like it!!! Don't see why my crew cab won't be the same. I can't wait to get mine fully finished! Sent from my BBD100-2 using Tapatalk

slj2008 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Is there much radio traffic on your " CB Radio's" these days .

But these trucks with a full console make it tough to mount one nice. I think I like it like this, with the mike hanger just below the seat heater switch Sent from my BBD100-2 using Tapatalk How does the speaker sound where it is? is it muffled? How did you get the cup holders to slide forward like that?

As for the cup holders, just grab it and give it a good pull up. They're held in place by some spring loaded balls. You'll be surprised to find another huge space underneath it, and probably a bunch of stuff you lost [emoji6]Sent from my BBD100-2 using Tapatalk
sdeeter19555 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 And mines a double cab I'll check it out soon. The crew cabs do, they are under the rear passenger's left foot...big oval plug.SteveSent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk 2

AFAIK '15 was the last year they were moveable.
rocnrol Posted March 8, 2018 Author Posted March 8, 2018 Here's what I've picked as my antenna location Sent from my BBD100-2 using Tapatalk
sdeeter19555 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Here's what I've picked as my antenna location Sent from my BBD100-2 using Tapatalk Should give you a good counterpoise as long as the antenna is grounded to the bar well (assuming the bar is steel). It will use that bar as a counterpoise...Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk 1
sdeeter19555 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 I did a Wilson 5000 mounted center of the roof of my crew cab (hole drilled, not a magnet mount). I'm running a General HP40W barefoot, the antenna gives me a nearly flat SWR of 1:1 on all 40 channels. I ran a 102 inch whip on the last truck, and over 850 watts...May not even put a radio in the next truck, there is very little (quality) traffic to speak of anymore...Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk 1
rocnrol Posted March 8, 2018 Author Posted March 8, 2018 Sdeeter,You definitely seem to have a grip on setting these things up!! Lol. I agree on the grounding of the bar, I was going to check that for sure. I've always had someone else tune my antenna and radio. I agree on the actual use ability of a CB..... To be quite honest, my primary drive is "the look" use is secondary [emoji12]Sent from my BBD100-2 using Tapatalk
grampadirt Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 I put my little cb in the cubby where the cd player would be on GMT400s,fits well. Not a lot of range but works well when off roading with other trucks.Magnetic antenna with cable going down the rear door jamb behind the rubber seal. 1
rocnrol Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 It was a pretty nice weekend here, so I was able to get this job done. I might do something different with how the antenna gets to the radio, and how the power cord gets to the power port. It took some messing around with the mounting stud to get it grounded right, and then some tuning with the antenna, but, using the SRW built in tuner, I got it pretty close to 1.5 on both channel 1 and 40, the picture shows where it is on 19. I fished the cable in through the cab vent on the back wall, then fed the cable under the door kick panel. Sent from my BBD100-2 using Tapatalk 1
