2018 Navi system map update

Got a letter today from GMC regarding updating my navigation system to the 2018 version.  It's $139.99 plus free shipping, now using a USB stick. Anyone know if this can be shared amongst other vehicles like the old navigation discs could be burned to another disc for sharing?

Plus the factory nav sucks donkey balls. I upgraded mine from the 2015 in 2016 and nothing changed. It almost never recognized any address inputs from voice recognition and is so bad compared to Waze or google maps. I won’t waste my money on factory nav updates anymore.

How does the speed limit work? Does that require OnStar subscription or just need the factory nav? That’s the one thing I find useful. And the weather for your next cities along your route is a nice touch.

Thanks for the replies. Had no idea it was tied to xm.

I tried to find the xm lifetime subscription one time payment plan, but looks like they did away with that. I’ll not be renewing and just use one of the the many music streaming tied to my phone.

If they still offered lifetime I’d consider that since iAd rather make a big payment once and save on the monthly charges.

Is the traffic and weather worth the money? Just upgraded my system to factory nav and Apple car play and now had onstar update it in their systems.

They won’t allow me to trail it however.

I renew my subscription every 5 or 6 months. This way I stay at the $5 per month rate and still enjoy Sirius XM.

Ditto, that's what I do, it's all fixed cost to provide service, so XM needs to maximize revenue by any means necessary.

On the Navi front, my new 2017 Sierra (bought in July 2017) navi map does not have an interchange that has been open since 2012 near my home?  I called "Customer (We don't) Care" and all the CSR would respond was "Your vehicle has the latest map available at the time of manufacture." So I would not be too sure that the "New" version the CSR says just came out would be any better. Absolutely no confidence.

You would think they would at least give you one free update when you buy a new vehicle. I'm going to call the Sales Manager I dealt with on the purchase and plead my case, and let them know I can always go to the Chevy Dealer for service. I will not pay $140 for an update though.

$30 for 6 months. No taxes. No royalty. No fees. $30. Period.

No the $30 is before Tax and Royalty, but it is only $5.68 per month all in.

No the $30 includes everything as I stated. Tell them you will pay $30 inclusive of taxes/fees. They will take it. Worked for me. They figure $30 is better than $0.

Good to know, I just took the $30 and they added the taxes plus royalty. But my 6 months is up on 4/22/18, so I will be going for the  $30 plus streaming, because otherwise i will rarely use it otherwise.
