Who else has this engine?  It's a bad @ss little V6, don't get me wrong.  It continues to impress me every day.  But WHY does is sound like it's gasping for air (or maybe not, it just sounds weird) when you get on it a bit?  Is this a tuning issue, should I get a high flow air filter, or is this just the nature of this engine?

Are you looking for 'permission' to play with your truck? :D

I note no such 'gasp' sound from mine however sound is subjective and we may not gauge it the same, right? Will a CAI change this sound? Oh yea. Will you like that sound? Who knows. It's an expensive venture for a 'look see'. Know this. No CAI will make it sound like a V-8.

Maybe it's just me, but it was the first thing I noticed when I test drove it.  I don't think I'd even bother putting a CIA on a V-6.  Maybe a high flow filter, but that would be about it.  It's really weird, it almost sounds like a "gurgling" type sound.  Keep in mind  this is my first Chevy V-6, so it may be this is just how this engine sounds, and it sounds normal to you guys.  Typically a V-6 is pretty damn silent.

Intake sound is intake sound. 6,8 dual quad, 6 pack the same. The loudness is the difference, your just pulling in air. Exhaust another story. That’s in the ear of the beholder.

I have a K&N drop in which is about the same as the paper in sound. They do have a bit more Grrrrrrrr than say a Buick 3800 V-6. I like the sound myself. Silent in cruise and Grrrrrrr when you pedal down.

I do think that the LV3 is a rather noisy little engine, at least compared to other newer engines. I don't mind though, I like knowing it's still under there!:D

Even with an aftermarlet intake that bogging sound is still present so it is not the intake baffling. They will all bog a litte coming out of V4 mode when you try to accelerate and the throttle opening speed is extremely slow on these trucks to begin with.Maybe try a tune or give an Afm disabler and one of those throttle booster a look

It's gasping for air because it's missing two cylinders lol... I never liked how mine sounded either....
