I think you have to sign up with the internet my chevrolet first to start your free  basic 5 yr plan then download the app , when you get to the site on your computer have your Vin number for your truck it has a lot of useful Info for your truck, I mean it has your build of your specific truck which is cool,

 

Go to the play store on your phone and download "my chevrolet " App ,or search my chevrolet  app also on apple or Iphone I forgot what was required but works great ,

Just push the OnStar button in the truck. When they answer, tell them you want to activate the 5-year basic plan. They will automatically give you 3 months of the full service and another 3 months for free if you give them your credit card. Just tell them you don't want the trial. The basic plan includes the remote app including remote start and remote lock/unlock.

They changed earlier this year so if you bought your vehicle new after (I think) April 1st 2018, you only get 3 months free and then the remote app costs $15/month.

Their top plan costs $60/month which is crazy. I would probably pay $10/mo for the protection and security package but no more.

I believe after the remote start, he put the keys in the ignition, turned to start, closed the passenger door, and by the time he got to drivers side, they locked

Possibly but my 2015 has lock-out protection.  If the key is in the ignition and the doors are locked then you get out of the truck it will automatically unlock the driver's door (but you may need to enable the feature in the Vehicle Settings menu on the radio screen).

I had the passenger door open. I wanted to remote start it. I hit the lock button on the remote, then held down the start button. I got to chatting and knowing that the truck will turn itself off, I reached across and put the keys in the ignition. Once I was done talking, I closed the passenger door to walk around and the truck was still locked. Because I never hit the unlock button, all doors were locked with truck running. The worst part is that I've done this before. Only the second time, I happened to have my wife's key for her vehicle in my hand so when I went to close the passenger door, I knew it was locked but in a moment of pure genius, I forgot I had put the keys in the ignition and thought the key in my hand was for the truck. It obviously wasn't.

Not to blaspheme but my F150 had the keypad under the handle. Best invention since astrolube. Not sure why all makers don't have this.

My 2018 has an anti-sleep function and built-in seat and steering wheel massage.

 

To activate the anti-sleep function, just get up to cruising speed on the highway.  The vibrating and deep cabin rumble will keep anyone awake. 

 

The massage function is on any time the truck is rolling, it massages your back , butt and legs and the steering wheel vibrations take care of your hands.  The transmission clunking kicks in ever now and again just to be sure you aren't asleep.

GM makes one but you have to add it (doesn't come standard):

Only works currently on 017+ trucks do to security programming changes. Nice thing is you can stick it anywhere you want (as long as the tape sticks) since it’s battery operated not hard wired.

This is probably common knowledge but I just found out last night. If you have google maps running through android auto on the screen and you rotate the menu knob, the map will zoom in and out. If you hit the back button it returns the the standard view. Kinda neat if you want to zoom in on a complicated turn or congested area. I have a 2018 Silverado CC for what it's worth, dunno if it works on earlier trucks...

Also click on the Menu tab when in google maps.   Scroll down and select Satellite.
