Took my Yukon to dealership for a simple tranny fluid drain and fill, now undriveable

I'd have no issues flushing it as long as the fluid looks good.

If the tranny fluid looks good and the it shifts fine, then there is probably little to no material in the filter, so you should be fine with just a fluid exchange.

Disconnect the upper tranny like from the radiator, hook a hose to it and into! 5 g container. Start motor, and let about 1-2 g out, stop, add equivalent amount, repeat until you see new clear fluid coming out. Reconnect everything, Then follow procedures for topping off the fluid amount.

So  bought a 2007 Silverado with 62K miles on it. Now at 97K and looking at changing the tranny fluid. Dealer said just flush with no changing the filter. That seemed strange.

Truck doesn't tow or anything. Daughter drives it for her daily driver and to haul stuff here and there.

So change or no with all this above stated?

Change out the filter.  For the cost and effort it is well worth it.  Then no worries for at least another 50k or so miles.  100k if you use a quality synthetic ATF and never use your truck to haul or tow.

Recently just picked up an 06 with 98k on her. One of the first things i did was change all the fluids (Oil, trans, coolant).

Not sure about the rest of the models, but on my transmission I had to pry out the old ring when I pulled the filter. Just be ready for that if so. got a little sketchy taking it off then using a 19mm socket to tap the new one in.
