Damn came here for 1911 pics

Ive got a few of those too. But that’s for another forum. One that had an idiot scratch as well which is a 1911 right of passage! Lucky it was a Stainless model which was easy to buff out.

Please....take a seat rookie.  I hadn't even made the first payment on my 2014 when I took it through a car wash that had a hard left turn to get into and I gashed the entire rear driver's side fender.  Cost me $575 to repair.

Oh dang! I’ll shut up now. Im not worthy! [emoji6]

Haha at least you're consistent!

I don't know what it is.....luck, karma, juju...whatever you want to call it, i'm a firm believer that the more you care and the more you try not to eff it up, something bad is likely to happen.  It never fails.

I agree. Baby my truck....got it washed and waiting at an intersection on the way home.....boom....Dodge Ram smacked into rear bumper.

Anybody else ever do this to a truck that has less than 500 miles on it? [emoji30]

We have a place here in Columbus Ohio... Called the wheel mechanic. They could fix that no problem!

Ive never self inflicted any wounds on my trucks its always EVERYONE ELSE lol

You sound like all of my employees!

Only scratched my own personal truck once. Otherwise they all have been flawless, even swirl-less deep black paint. Rock chips on the painted bumper too but that is unavoidable.

OP: Do yourself a favour and buy a nice set of larger than stock tires with a "rim protector", essentially an oversized E load AT or MT tire will have a sidewall beefy enough to take the curb rash for your rim. I rub curbs all the time with my 20's and the Pro Comp tire takes the rubs nicely.

We never had these problems with our old 16" rims. Now we look cool with the 20's, but at the cost of comfort, drivability, weight, economy, traction, price, tire cost, and cleaning time. A lot of cons to the one pro.

I was looking at the Continental TerrainContact AT tires when the time comes to replace the crappy SRA’s. Which those do have the “Rim Protector” and have gotten some really good reviews. Not looking forward this this upcoming winter in Pittsburgh driving on those SRA’s. I think 275/60/r20 is as big as I can go while keeping the suspension and wheels stock. I’ve been combing through the tire section of this forum and there’s a lot of good info in there. [emoji6]

Yep! Did it on day one. First curbed rim in 53 years on this planet!  We counted 11 rims for my wife in 10 years. She's horrible. Of course she was in the truck when I did it......Yes she had to open her mouth too......

It happenes even to fanatics, these rim repair guys are magicians though, just take it in.

You could probably do a 285/60/20 but fat tires in the winter displace more of the trucks weight, which means less traction. I don't drive my 6.2L in winter but I did try once, you literally couldn't move on a snow covered road in 2WD with a 12.5" section width. You just sit there and spin. Ideally a 245-265 will give you the best winter performance. The SRA's are junk and a Passenger rated tire, I wouldn't put them on a minivan. You will lose considerable economy going to a beefy LT rated tire but gain peace of mind. If you leave the pavement, P rated tires are not adequate.

Most of the damage done to my truck is my own fault.  It's inevitable... I use it for hauling and towing stuff.  So, it's not if but when.    It happens.  Don't sweat it.  It can be repaired if it really bugs you.

OP update. Went camping this weekend and got the truck all muddy. Forgot the scratches were even there! Came home and got the truck washed. They’re still there...

I’ll just need to get my truck dirty and camp more often which is why I own a truck in the 1st place. Heck, I don’t normally even see clean wheels here in western Pennsylvania between Nov/Dec - March. If I lived more north I wouldn’t see clean wheels probably for half the year. I’ll get the scratch taken care of eventually but I’m really in no rush.

A smarter purchase for me would be for me to get rid of those Goodyear SRA’s. I remember my first 2 winters here in western PA with my ‘15 Sierra and it’s SRA’s. Ugh. And those were mild winters!
