Name one that isn’t a hard core sports car

First what do you consider to be a "hard core sports car", if you do not know how to classify motor vehicles this argument is already over. Also it is off topic. If you hate driving your truck why would you come to a forum just for trucks to state that? Looking for an argument?

I am going to guess you are referring to Corvettes, Vipers, and GT's. In my opinion they ride somewhat stiff but are actually meant to and comfortable. They feel more 'solid' than they do stiff. So I like the ride of my Silverado better than any Muscle Car, which are Challengers, Camaros, and Mustangs. I like the new Camaros more than more but prefer the ride of my truck, and I promise you I am not the only one.

Plus try riding in some of the larger passenger vehicles, even sedans and you can immediately feel, even at low speeds that there is more to be desired. Have you ever noticed that the nicest riding cars, such as the Toyota Camry ride very, very smooth, then their larger Lexus counterparts leave much to be desired? Do not get me wrong, I like both Toyota and Lexus for the most part, just using it as an example. Yes, I enjoy how Silverado's ride over $100,000 passenger cars that were only made to comfortably transport people from one location to another.

You live in NC? Depending on budget If it were me I'd get a used C5 corvette w/ a stick or a civic/accord w/ a stick  - I prefer/miss driving stick in my DD - makes commuting more "fun" depending on what your situation is - obviously dead stopped commuter traffic isn't fun in a manual tranny car but honestly doesn't bother me much - stick shifts get better MPGs, you will get 30 hwy in a vette......low 20's in city as long as you're not romping on it. These days they're also typically cheaper than a comparably equipped automatic version.

On flip side w/ a civic you can drive it like you stole it 24/7 & the worst you'll see is high 20's avg mpg ;-)

I work from home & most miles driven for work are expensed @ $.545 per mile or whatever it is these days - so DD'ing the truck isn't a big deal for me - I live in MA & go all over new england & beyond for work rain or shine so I needed 4wd, have a 3.5 year old & a dog so needed to have some room, have a big yard & do alot of projects on my own so need cargo space.....an SUV is not my style so my DD is a crew cab 4x4 truck.

Corvette would be awesome but getting in and out of one would be my issue (I'm about 6'2 290). A while ago my dad have an 86 corvette that was real fun to drive

I probably put 1 million miles in a seat of a truck of all types. On the weekend I drove my wife’s car. When I retired I sold my truck and tried an SUV, no thanks. I now drive a Camry. It’s about as quick as most of the trucks I’ve owned. It’s very comfortable, has a 5 star safety rating. It cost me half of what a similar equipped truck and gets 35 mpg. When I feel the need to drive a truck I have a nice used one for that.

Yeah I am only 5'9" and hate that about Corvettes and sports cars in general. I might be a little bias because I used to spend all day getting in and out of them when I worked as a valet. Maybe if I only got in it once and took it on a trip I would be okay lol.

Yep, did not want to mention it because of the little scrap there but we have a Toyota Camry. It rides like a dream and honestly I think my truck is very comparable. I think the ride is different though. You are no longer comparing apples to apples. The only thing I do not like about the Camry is that space is limited, especially if you are sitting in the backseat. I would not say it is uncomfortable, but wish it had a little more room.

They are ridiculously durable too. They are just simply well built. My friend got t-boned by a car running a red light and the only injury sustained was from the glass shattering. He said it hit very hard, which is easy to believe as the guy was probably trying to 'make the light'. Anyway the car was messed up but you could see that the impact did not really penetrate to into the cab of the car.  I am thinking about checking out a Toyota 4Runner next. I have never really tried one of the newer models. If it does not ride good I will not consider it another second though.

To each their own, sell what you’ve got and get a cheap ricer or keep what you’ve got and lease a ricer, tax deductible.

Personally, I do not ever think I could ever purchase a vehicle with getting me from point a to point b being the only thing in mind. I have to be comfortable and enjoy what I am driving. The Silverado did that for me. I sit up high and have great visibility compared to the Camry and it rides great (or used to). I guess to each their own!

Leaf springs and solid axles are 200 year old designs.

Really no comparison to a new unibody vehicle with IRS as far as potential ride quality goes.

Heck, just swapping leafs to coils like the RAM trucks makes a significant difference.

But I’m surprised at just how good these Silverados ride.

When I put my King’s on, I ran my OEM tires for about a day. Talk about a plush ride...

It’s still a very good ride with my current E-rated tires.

I love driving my truck.
But for commuter duties, I’m gonna drive my electric clown car into the ground.

Trucks have come a long way for sure. My problem, I equate them to work. It just so happens my granddaughter was rear ended into another car Wednesday evening, she’s fine. The car was totaled, looked bad. Air bags everywhere. It was a Camry. Her and passenger walked away. 04fbd544a3a1ad0f44ff8c74f2371a6d.jpg

You could put that in the back of your pickup and get even more miles out of it lol. Ok, moving on

The silverado and sierra suspension are downright aweful compared to cars are you kidding me?

you’re going to sit there and tell me a non adjustable suspension designed to handle 2000lbs in the bed is comfortable. News flash, when you have to design a suspension for those loads, it’s either got to be adjustable or it’s got to be compromised somewhere in the middle.

What are you so confused with is the giant lazyboy recliners you get to sit in, the low nvh, and commanding view of the road. It makes for an excellant ride when you don’t ask the suspension for anything. When you ask the suspension for something, I’ll take just about any car that isn’t a viper acr or a zl1 1le over the truck.

anybody who says our trucks have a smooth ride is smoking crack. Physics does not allow a non-adjustable spring and non-adjustable shock to perform well with 2k lbs and 4k lbs (weight over the rear axle estimation unloaded vs loaded)

Posted

Also who likes driving a truck? Seriously?

I drive one because I need to, and its a damn fine one for that.

but why on earth would you want to drive a truck over a car that is faster in every way, handles better, and rides better.

If you want to sit up high get an actual suv

our trucks are meant to work, if you’re just driving to the office with it and you bought it specifically for that, to put it bluntly, you’ve got a small penis

Not true, my 18, 6.2 Sierra drove like a Cadillac and then I personalized it [emoji12].

I bought my father-in-law a Yukon because he had an old Camry that rode like crap and every time I rode in it with him cause he made me go everywhere with him when I’d visit. One day, for kicks, we stopped at a Toyota dealership, vultures came running, we test drove new ones, even Lexus ES garbage and felt like you’re driving a go cart, felt every crack and crevice. So, moving on, I surprised him one day when he drove home from church, presses his garage door opener and found a shorty Yukon SLT in his spot, he completely freaked out. He later told me he couldn’t believe he’s been driving that pc of crap Camry around all those years. It’s not about how much miles you get but the Smiles you get per mile. Safety is without a doubt the best in a Truck or SUV.

I got rear ended one day by a texting teenager, visiting my truck, I noticed a caved in brand new Honda Accord, it was smashed in the drivers side all the way into the shifter. The repair guy said, see all the shit splattered everywhere? Brain matter! Yeah, you go ahead and jeopardize safety over mpg’s.
