Ordered 2 months ago, no build date yet...

I placed an order for an AT4 a little over two months ago, and the order still hasn't been assigned a TPW.

The dealership has a call with their GM rep on Monday and they hope to have new information for me, right now they're telling me that they're being told that GM is building inventory for the launch, and they assure me that none of their other truck orders have been picked up either and mine is at the top. Feels like BS to me.

I think I have a pretty good deal...I'm paying dealer "invoice" + $695, and they offered to give me their care package which includes $50 service vouchers every six months for life (almost free oil changes), access to a free rental car whenever the truck is in the shop, and various other benefits, to compensate for the lengthy delay in the order.

Would it make sense to approach another dealership to see if they can commit to having an order allocation and be willing to match the price? How aggressive should I be with the sales person I'm dealing with at the current dealership? I don't want to be a dick and blow everything up if the order is just around the corner, but I feel pretty justified in being frustrated.

I ordered an AT4 about a month ago and was assigned an event status code of 3000 and TPW of 12/3 in LESS than one week of placing oder (i.e., about 3 weeks ago).

I ordered my AT4 on 8/23 and it was assigned TPW of 10/22 the same week I ordered and arrived on 11/15. It would have been sooner if I ordered a crew cab but double cab production started later.

Sounds like your dealer may not have allocation...

Waiting is the hard part... mine was built 10/8 but it still hasn’t arrived at the dealer yet. It’s a crewcab short box so it isnt even one of the later run of trucks... I’m told now it could be ready the last week of November.

Oh and the Dealer is Dave Smith in Idaho who claims to be the largest GMC dealer in the northwest so they shouldn’t have trouble with allocations or volume...

I put in a at4 order in last week I will let you know if it gets picked up.

Does your dealer have an allocation to place an order?  I ran into this issue with my 2010.

Find a new dealer.

I order one May 28th at a dealer and I never got a TPW for it so I canceled it August 31 because I ordered through another dealer on August 18th and 2 weeks later I got TPW August 31..

Both trucks were identical.
