So the salesman called me today saying that GM have solved this issue with a software update (seems suspicious that the day after I said I wasn’t going to buy the truck that they magically found the solution) and that other dealership will be getting the news on Monday.

I asked for details about the update and he couldn’t tell me anything.

has anyone else heard anything ?
Scroll up in this thread. People have mentioned there's a fix that's supposed to be correcting the errors.

I just got mine a few hrs ago. They had it a day and half.  Forth trip to resolve. No fix yet.  They said it is there top priority. I did get a nice wash.

If someone actually gets a fix, please post the info. I was told they are still working on it. First the thought it was the trailer connector, then wiring to it, video module. There is a very suspicious common ground running between systems.

Has anyone’s side detection stopped working? Mine completely and they don’t know what is wrong. Think it is tied to the rest of the issues.

be careful if towing, running lights go off also when cold outside, stop truck restart with trailer connected and running lights stay on for only a short time. all other lights and brakes working. towed yesterday for 5 hours in the dark with no trailer lights. dangerous and gm has no fix?...  been to dealer twice , no fix . so have to drive with warning flashing on dash and cannot tow trailer.

Been watching this thread as I’m going threw this exact problem.  Took the truck to the dealer four times starting in Novermber.   Four times not fixed.  Last week I called GM and told them I wanted them to buy back the truck.  They told me a “Senior Advisor” would call me within 2-3 business days.  Today, March 4th, (the 3rd business day) she called and told me “there is a fix as of March 1st”.  I told her I don’t care, it qualifies under lemon law (CT), I still want them to buy the truck back and that there is no guarantee that this fix will even work.  Then she tells me it doesn’t qualify for lemon law “with them”, “because there was no fix for the vehicle”.  LMAO!!  It’s not my problem or any customer’s problem that the four times it was brought there, they could not/had no fix for it.  Now, when I say I want my money back, they suddenly have a fix!!  I had already contacted an attorney.  I just have to email him the sale paperwork.  I told her I would tell my attorney to take my case.  Too little, too late....

The fix is to de-sensitize all the systems. U will find park assist barely works, side detection and pedestrian alert is after the fact. Cross traffic alert should be re-named, “there already behind you alert”They are dragging their feet hoping warm weather clears things up and a year expires.

I contacted GM at 1-866-522-9559 and they were able to open up a case in which one of their "specialist" will contact me in two business days to start the buy back process. We'll see how this goes next week but at the very least it is another avenue to make some more noise.

Opened my case, meanwhile im paying for a car to sit at the dealership and be torn apart and told thats normal.  1100 miles....keep it classy GM/Chevy

My truck was updated last Tuesday. I drove it through the weekend with temps betweeen 16-30 (with snow/ice in the road). Did not get the trailer disconnected error all weekend which had not been the case for the past two months. I have not been able to get to the dealer myself to get details but will attempt to do so once I am back in town.

Note that my truck does not have the lane assist or park assist features so I am not able to verify if the update has any effect on this errors.

Unfortunately, A manufacturer is never going to just buy you out.  You will have to get a lawyer and press the issue under lemon law, if your particular case qualifies for it.  I live in CT where the lemon law is two years or 24,000 miles.  “A reasonable number of attempts to fix the same problem”, which I’m told is four.  The “senior advisor” said they “never attempted” for fix it because there was no fix.  Which is B.S.  You can’t just tell someone it’s broke, we can’t fix it, wait MONTHS, too bad, so sad.  They will lose in the end.  They will eventually have to buy the truck back, minus some formula for mileage AND pay for my lawyer fees (part of the law).  It doesn’t happen overnight, but it will happen.  It’s really too bad.  This is my first GMC, it’s a beautiful truck and I love it otherwise, but this has been a horrible experience!!

According to the service rep, all the systems are related. Like I said above, they are de-sensitizing the systems. The rear sensors are part of the trailer stuff.

I really just want what I paid for. I am afraid it is becoming common knowledge the trucks have electrical issues which will kill the value even more than the 11k in incentives they will offer in 6 months.

Get the certified letter to them to preserve your rights. If there right, symptoms will going  away this spring and summer but come back when it’s cold and wet.

This is happening on mine too.  I’ve noticed the Auto Stop feature is not working either when I have these issues, along with making changes to the settings on the infotainment system.

Pretty frustrating that this wasn’t caught in testing.

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
