The most surprising thing to me is that in all that fancy cold weather testing in exotic places you read about in magazines that nobody ever noticed that as soon as you need to put on a hat to go outside cause it’s a little cold the truck will go bats**t crazy with alerts and flashing screens.

Some QA process these guys (either the truck manufacturers or the upstream supplies, or both) have. Doesn’t inspire confidence at all.

The only way way to explain something like this in my line of work is when somebody fast tracks a change to production at the last minute with limited review.

My partner has a new FORD, the forums are full of rear connector issues just like you are all talking about. rear

connections, cold weather and road debris, info center issues.

I wonder if the factory coated the connections?  Strange that FORD and CHEVY have similar issues

I have heard that about Ford’s, but the ones we’ve been having don’t seem to be related to debris/ salt. This started happening to me with 250 miles on my truck. The thing was spotless when the dealer looked at it.

I really suspect this is a defect within the “trailer lighting control module”. If the part is made in Mexico, their electronics are notorious for poor quality solder joints. Stuff gets cold and the cracks in the solder open up. If it was just a software issue I assume a fix would have already come down. I hope we will find out soon enough.

I will let you know what happens, his Ford looks like corrosion at the connection

Time for a local news channel investigation to get some real press on this.  Why hasn’t GM reached out to the owners letting them at least know they’ve identified the issue.  You put OnStar in my car to track everything why not communicate through it as well. Sh***iest customer service and you wonder why people are hesitant to buy this brand.  If it’s an Toyota, Acura, Infiniti, BMW etc this for one doesn’t happen and even if it does it’s fixed immediately not over a month of driving around with crap warnings flash such crap. —-Disgusted owner.

Exactly.  The public beta tests for them.

Add one more to the list.  2019 LTZ with 270 miles.   It was 14 degrees outside and I got the message twice.   Cleared it and everything seems ok.  Did set the system to not detect trailer as noted above until a fix is found.

Same issue here on my new AT4. Glad I found other people talking about this. Dealer knows nothing and told me to "wait a month to see what updates come out."

Shouldn't take a month for engineering to figure out this problem...

I'm so happy I opted to get the advanced trailering package at the last minute. My butt is puckering just thinking about going back to the dealer and getting jacked around with false fixes and excuses. I look forward to performing the walk around issue, wiping sensors off and blowing out connectors every day before driving to work.

Isn't technology wonderful? To think where the media/industry is pointing in terms of self driving automobiles.....lol....what a joke.

I have the same problem cold weather the radio and the display flips out. GM has no fix been to local dealer.  There is an open ticket on my truck and it makes me mad that I am making a payment on a truck that I don't want to drive. The thing that I worry about is that they are waiting for the warm weather so they wont have to fix the problem. I thought about getting a lawyer involved to make sure that I don't get screwed over.  The bad thing is I bought this truck in September and it started acting up in November and like everyone said dealer has no clue what was wrong.

Agreed paying for something that didn’t work.  Also fyi don’t buy any after market stuff from GM or Chevy they quality is horrible.

I bought a tonneau cover for my truck and it leaks bad by the tailgate. My 17 sierra cover didn't leak at all but that was aftermarket.

My AT4 has just over 300 miles on it and just started having issues with the front parking sensors yesterday. Today though, I got the trailer and rear cross traffic alert a few times while on the highway. I guess Ill call the dealer tomorrow and see if they know anything. For what its worth, I came from a Ford and never had any issues with my rear connection. The only time the parking sensors went off is if they were covered in snow or ice.

Well I've been dealing with this for 5 months now still no fix. I am going to buy a Ford if this problem isn't fixed in the next month. Its only when is cold outside all the problems start to show up.

Grabbed mine from the dealer and drove it during the warm weather last weekend and experienced no issues. Just got back in town and it’s 24... took the truck to dinner and within 2 minutes same error. Calling GM tonight or tomorrow to start the process to get them to buy it back and taking it back to the dealer to log the error again. Figured that might light a fire under someone’s ass if they have to buy it back.
