I checked the link. I only saw three plans. 24.99 , 34.99, 59.99. the 34.99 included remote access.

You can beat them down if you threaten to cancel it.. just like Sirius radio... I have the security plan right now ($24.99) for $9.99

I have remote start that works from the key fob on my 2012.

The newer trucks require On Star for remote start?

:)

My GMC app has the remote start as well.. still a pay feature though. Kind of weird the OnStar and the GMC app both have it, but you have to pay OnStar for either to work. I have the package deal with unlimited wifi for 60.00 a month. Seemed like the best route to have everything. It goes toward my GMC rewards and gives me about 1200 points a month. I use that for satillite phone minutes through OnStar. They come in handy in areas we travel and there is no cellphone reception.

These monthly fee services are HUGE money makers for the auto companies.  This is just GM's version of the cash cow.

I never even tried even the free trial hot spot in my truck.  My phone has a hot spot that gets used often - I'll just use that.  OnStar services are pretty worthless and I'm not about to pay just so I can remote start/unlock my truck from an app.  I'd like (and would use the remote start feature) if I had it, but for a monthly fee - hell no.  GM made enough money selling me a truck - I'm not looking to contribute further.

I hate paying for freaking Sirius, and that's just for the app and the plan in my wife's car.  Wife likes it in her car and I listen to Howard daily - he leaves and the wife can learn to live without it and just use our Spotify account (which is shared among 4 people, so its pretty cheap monthly).

I came from a 14 Silverado LT and upgraded this past summer to an 18 Sierra CC premium plus.  My 14 Silverado had free remote start via the app for life (from what the salesman said).  I was dissapointed when I found out my 18 was 1 month with 2 free months if I submitted a credit card (which I canceled after my 3 month total ended).

I complained to OnStar in September (like everyone does with Comcast/DirecTV/etc) to see if I could get some freebies.  The lady was very nice and helpful and told me she would give me 2 years of remote access free.  So the other day, I got the monthly email and it said my subscription expires soon.  I ignored it, bc I got 2 years free!  Well leaving work today, it said upgrade and my app was done.  I called and the guy said there was nothing on the notes saying anything about my free 2 years.  He was a tool bag, talking over me, trying to explain how the app works, I eventually hung up bc I was tired of listening.

Annoying that I get told one thing and there is no proof so he probably thought I was making up shit.  I only use the app leaving work.  I'm too far away for the fob.  $15 a month to use it 4 months out of a year?  No thanks.  Spending 40k on a truck (close to 60k on my current), should be free for the basic package.

I work in tech and understand that there is cost involved in keeping these services running even just with keeping the app updated, not to mention server and networking costs. Not huge but not free. GM could have this as a loss leader as part of why to buy a GM or even a low fee ($2-3 a month) but anything over $5 is beyond greedy.

It may be worth more if there was integration with truck HVAC but beyond that it's far too simple and slow to justify $15 a month. I love it when I'm in the gym as it's one less thing to keep in my pocket as I don't change at the gym and never use the lockers. That said it's not the end of the world without it and I'm sure other companies will release something similar if not already.

I just bought my 18 Sierra last month. I will cancel mine after my 3 months too. It's nice to have but definitely not worth the price.
