I did nothing to make mine work other than swapping it over.  I am using a short (maybe 1') aftermarket USB-C cable feeding my LG G7 ThinQ.  Usually only takes a couple seconds for Android Auto to come up and works great.  I'm usually doing a decent amount of bandwidth work too, using Waze and the SiriusXM or Spotify apps at the same time.

 

Just to double check, I was using the left of the three ports.  I tried the center one as well - still worked perfectly.

I do! I'm still doing some tweaking to the consoles fitting from wear/use/disassembly I imagine happened from the original owner. The inserts were smooth so that after a good cleaning, the wrap was easy to apply with the use of a heatgun.

Wow bright color.  Are you doing the other ones as well?

I will not with my current setup. I have the stock interior with all the little ridges/bumps. I've been told vinyl doesn't work well with that. I'll need to get some replacements so I can sand them smooth to get the vinyl to stick, or just paint them to match.

I have the fake wood look panels on my doors and they are smooth.  Send me a pic of your panels.  Maybe if they are what I'm looking for, we could trade.  That would cut out all the sanding for you and I could get what I'm looking for.  Hopefully!

If you look at the picture of the upper trim behind the Nagene bottle you can see where it does not come down and meet the "ledge" under it. The upper trim with non moveable cup holder comes down and sits flush with the corner of the "ledge". That's the best I can describe it.

I finally had some tome to try this as I have both the 14/15 console against a 16+ console.

Here are my observations...

The base console themselves are identical in physical nature. The difference in how the upper tray sits on the console is there is a rubber piece on both sides that gives the perception of the tray sitting flush when snapped in. I was able to transfer that rubber piece into my 16+ console as it has the slits to accept it.
