2016 Silverado Tapping Noise

I don't want to beat a dead horse when it comes to direct injection but is this sound normal? Truck just started making it at 12k miles. 2016 5.3. Sound appears to be coming from mid to top end of rear side of engine. Way louder than it's ever been. Sound is really loud at cold start and doesn't really go away when its warm. It's never made this sound until this weekend.

Just bough a 2014 Silverado, and have a similar sound. Hard to tell if it's exactly the same, definitely isn't as loud but probably just due to you putting the camera right to the motor. I brought it to my mechanic after purchase to have a look over and I pointed it out. He said it was normal for the 5.3's, and that they all do it.

Only time I can really hear it in the truck is in a drive through, otherwise it's fine.

Hard to tell. Looks like your right at the transmission behind the oil filter. Try to take a clip of the engine bay just over the engine. I could tell you at that point.

If it is a soft tick tick tick tick that is hard to identify almost right over your intake manifold that is just your rocker arms and nothing to work about. If it is isolated and very loud on one side that would be alarming.

If you only hear it where the trans meets the engine you may want to have that looked at.

This issue get resolved ?

I took my truck back to the dealership last week because of this same noise that it started making.Its currently at 57k miles and all services have been done at fealership.

They are replacing the cams and lifters because they said they are bad.Any one else have this problem ? What would cause it ?

POS AFM components. Lifter failed and wiped out the cam. It's a common failure in these trucks/SUVs with AFM.

Good news...no more noise, for now. Bad news...they are replacing the bad parts with identical parts that are likely to fail down the road.

True deletion of AFM involves internal engine work.

Not just a temporary solution such as an electronic disabler.

I did not realize these trucks have such a serious and expensive issue.The warranty work totaled over $4K.

Are the afm components only on that one bank ? Cylinder 1 on mine had scoring, and the cam and lifters and other related parts were replaced, as far as I know just on that one bank.
