I am sure this has been covered or at least something similar so am sorry if I am asking the same question.  I wood like a ported box ( or 2 smaller ) for 2 12s to go under my back seat. I have a 2016 crew cab with Bose. I dont really wanna buy one (already did and box failed). I am looking for plans or a how to, whatever you want to call it. Hopefully with some pictures. I probably wont use carpeting I'm considering using something like rhino liner. Doesn't have to be fancy with curves and whatnot.  Main thing is the overall construction of box or boxes and how to properly port them. Thanx in advance.

Steve made forums is ultimately your best bet. You can pay someone to spec a box for you or have someone build it custom. Those guys know ther their.... You might get a freebee and find a guy nice enough to do it for free. What subs and how many watts are you looking to push?

There is not enough room for a ported box. Low profile subs i believe require a sealed box. I built my box out of mdf, used 1/2 spacers to pick up the back seat for clearance.

I have 2 DS18 BD-X124D with a Orion CB3500 watt Cobalt. They are in a mdf box now and fit fune. So if need be I could just reverse engineer the box I have. Just really would like to get the most out of them.

2 12s uaually need about 2 cubes per.  Plus port and drover displacments. So youre looking at 5 cube box mlat likely. Not gonna fit under the seats. 10s ported in doable

Did you make the spacers or is this something I can buy. I was thinking about figuring out some way to raise the back seats a inch or so

Not much space. A seat lift can buy you a little. More but again very limited. I build all my own. It is easy labor but requires skill and how to also a lot of tools.
Drill, drill bit, wood screws, liquid nails, air nailer, saws jig or router, sanding tools, ect...
MDF 1/2 or 3/4 is standard. But also duraglass, fiber glass, skim coat.
In my last truck I did wood box with fiberglass top on one side and a cargo box on the other side. Cargo bin was MDF and dropped into the enclosure it was done in bed liner.
This truck is carpet box. I made a cast of the floor boards then wood on the sides and top. The glassed bottom gave me more space and depth. But also is a perfect match to the floor curves so it doesn't move. 7914d2db86a19cf3d27ecf2c4a6bf181.jpg75f69aef670bba9ad09098b133038218.jpge54d719a6413a695412b11398b5bf51a.jpgff72dc247cb803ac235661c6f964ace0.jpg

I have just put in a fox box that has 2 1o inch sundown e10 v3's in it and it is ported to the rear and I am very happy with the set up. They are powered by a RF 1200 class d at 1 ohm and they hit hard. the box comes with one inch seat risers to lift the seat up and the sub mounting depth gives right at 6 inches. The sundowns just fit in there. Box is well made, it isn't 12's but it sounds a lot better than the shallow mount subs I have heard in the past. And for a lower line of sundown subs I was thoroughly impressed.

    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
    • Correct.  2019-2021 model years are serviced by a different p/n.  19420611.  Recall 2021s use 19420611.   The recall engines 2022-2024 model years are serviced with 12740076.     The difference between 19420611 and 12740076 is GM changed injector size for 2022.  The injectors are smaller on 12740076 with smaller injector bores in the cylinder heads to match the smaller injectors.  So you can't install a 19420611 in a 2022-2024, and you can't install a 12740076 in a 2019-2021.     Both engines are the replacement engine p/ns that are in the L87 recall.  So both of these are the updated engines.     Here's a version of the L87 recall with the p/ns for all the parts needed.    RCRIT-25V274-7075.pdf   Note it shows 19420611 and 12740076 with an asterisk to a footnote "Use the VIN and the GM Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) to determine which part to order if two or more part numbers are listed for the same part, as it may vary by vehicle options."
