2018 rear cc door out of alignment

So I noticed on my 2018 that the rear right door on the crew cabs do not lineup correctly at the bottom it is gapped out nearly a quarter inch and GM doesn’t want to do anything about it. They basically told me it was a design flaw that can’t be fixed. Has anyone had any luck at a dealer getting it fixed?

It is NOT a design flaw, it’s shoddy assembly. Here is my right rear door on my 2018 CC...is it Lexus pure? No, but it’s not a 1/4 inch either...

Mine is like this on the drivers rear door.  Does it just need adjusted?
I got you both beat. Mine are out on both sides.
Wait, could be mine are the correct body design, eh?

As long as it doesn't cause poor shifts or collapsed lifters I ain't giving this styling cue another thought.37d0a94624d87bbd58031002c05c3f41.jpgf28bfec00016cc0f3eb41a3b58e84de5.jpg

I was told at a Chevy dealer there is nothing they can do. It’s the way the truck was designed... not sure how this is ok with them. They pulled another 2018 to the side of mine and that too had same issue. I’m trying to get them to ok a non GM shop fix it if they can’t. I like the truck but when I think of the door I feel the panels should have all lined up flush.

Yep, my rear drivers side looks pretty bad.  I only have 2000 miles on it and haven’t been back to the dealer yet, but I will be asking them about it. It does look like a joke on a vehicle this expensive. Of course it would look like a joke on a Cruze.  It does appear that the seal is making good contact though.

I swear, I don’t know how you guys keep your trucks for so long. Workmanship is getting so bad, there’s no way I’m keeping this truck beyond my extended warranty.  And, it’s not just GM. My buddy just had to put a new engine in his Ford 250 with just over 125,000 miles.

My 2017 CC drivers side rear door is like this. The bottom is definitely kicked out. I noticed the other day when I shut it, it doesn’t sound or feel solid like the other doors. I went around and tried the passenger side... no gap and feels and sounds completely solid.

I went and looked at mine. They are ok. I don't recall any offsets with my 2014 either.

If I put my engineer hat on, I would guess that the gap is due to hole size tolerance on the hinge bracket. If it's too far to one extreme, you get the 1/4" gap. GM probably determined that to be the max allowable as it still allows the door seals to have enough positive engagement to keep reasonable amounts of water out.

Here's what I would try, if it bothered me. You'll need a second person to help support the door.

1. Slightly loosen all four hinge bolts. Have your assistant hold the door with upward pressure, slightly, while you do it.

2. Carefully close the door.

3. See if you can influence the gap by pushing the door upwards or downwards, and make mental note of any upward or downward bias (or maybe in or out?) and its effects on the gap.

4. Slightly reposition the door as mentally noted with the door open and tighten the bracket bolts again.aa03127016ed4c6e65db45afa12b452f.jpg
