Climate off appeared on my screen for the first time last night. Like others said the manual controls seem to still work. It didn't go away after turning the truck off. I let the truck connect to the internet and checked for updates. Said no new updates available but the screen did go back to working after. Probably not related though. Hope they find a fix soon. Also noticed that changing prest radio stations with steering wheel controls is no longer working on mine. The highlight moves over the new station and stays highlighted for a couple of seconds but station does not change then the highlight goes back to original station. Touching the screen still works though. Wonder if it is a related software issue.

Since my truck started doing this, it has been sometimes working, sometimes not.  I started noticing that when I leave for work in the morning it doesn't work, but when I leave work the app is working.  The only difference is that I lock the truck at work and not at home in my garage.  Yesterday, I locked my truck while it was in the garage.  When I left for work, I unlocked the truck and the climate app was working.  I need to experiment with this some more.  I'm going to try some combinations of leaving the truck unlocked, starting it, if the climate app is not working, stopping the truck, locking it, unlocking it, start the truck and see if the app is working.  Just to note I do have the passive locking feature turned off.

Good morning. I am new to this forum. I just picked up a 2019 Sierra 2 days ago, and I’ve only had the “on screen climate” controls work once for me. Seems like a software issue. I went online and came across this thread. I guess bugs are to be expected with a new body style. Hopefully they figure it out.

I too have had this issue on my 2019 Silverado RST.

This is the best part...

My truck was in for a recall, oil change and tire rotation and this "climate off" problem was on the list. The dealership Jeff Wyler Cheverolet in Canal Winchester (Columbus, Ohio), said that this issue could not be diagnosed because I had installed a radar detector and a behind the grill light bar. They claimed to have taken pictures of it and sent to GM to invalidate my warranty. Both my "aftermarket accessories" are plugged into accessory spots on the fuse block. They say it could disrupt the computer. Problem is I have documented that I have had these issues since day two with this truck... Well before anything was installed. They even threatened to remove the "aftermarket accessories" if the truck was brought back for warranty work. Seriously??? This vehicle is MY property.

It's a way the dealer is trying to cover their ass because their technician is too stupid to troubleshoot issues. I understand that GM doesn't have a fix for this yet, but they do know of the issue and a current technician should be able to know what is going on, rather than to try to blame it on a customer installed part...

Public Service Announcement -   I'd think long and hard before I buy or have anything serviced at Jeff Wyler Chevrolet in Columbus, Ohio

They are idiots if they think a power tap would cause this issue. My truck is stock and doing this. I'm sure the folks at Chevy corp think that service dept are idiots too.

Yesterday it popped up on me when selecting recirculate. Third time this message has appeared. I go back and forth between auto and recirculate every day. But yesterday it triggered the off message.

Hello from the other side of Columbus! I’m glad Chesrown Chevy GMC Buick in Delaware does not treat me that way, especially since I have lifetime oil, filter, lube, tire rotation and balance from them that is not transferable. Wyler does not have the best reputation anyway, but I would talk to someone at GM about the experience to see what they say. Then find a way to get them to say in an email that your added accessories do not invalidate your warranty in any way whatsoever so you have documentation to back up their words and your warranty. You paid a lot of money to have a dealership employee declare your warranty invalid due the installation of some minor accessories, and then be threatened that way. I’m sure GM does not want that word spreading whether Wyler cares about their reputation or not. Maybe you start your conversation with the general manager or owner before you go to GM, but somehow you have to protect your investment and without threats from employees. Just my 2 cents worth and good luck!  Keep us posted.

I have bought 4 trucks from Chesrown over the past 10 years... I would have continued to be a customer there if not for 1 reason... Wyler was willing to make a far better deal... So I guess it's true, you get what you pay for. Chesrown has good people and a great customer lounge... There was just too big of a difference in the deal....

Oh well....

Jeff Wyler doesn't care about their reputation or their customers... They have made that perfectly clear

I have seen this once in my new 2019 that I have had for less than 2 weeks.  Not making me feel great to see a bug like this already.  However, the bright side is that it is most likely simply a software code upgrade that can be pushed down.

Unfortunately for me I get this message at least once a day. I do agree it “should” be a simple fix with software update except it’s been two months now with no fix for me and it’s getting pretty frustrating. Cmon Chevy!

Now the Gremlin bugs have attacked my rig.....I received the 'Climate Control Off message bar' twice yesterday and once today.  Hopefully a fix will be available soon

Wow, opposite experience for me, Wyler would not come down from msrp other than same rebates everyone got, told me “these new 2019 GMC trucks were so hot we can sell them for any price we want, as matter of fact they sell themselves.” I told them that at least 2 other dealers were coming down around 10% off msrp and they laughed at me and said I “better jump on that deal but it was not going to happen ar Wyler.” Okay. Chesrown not only beat the other out of town deal I had working but threw in a couple of extras and gave $3,000 over the best price quote I had received for my trade which I did not mention until after I had best price on my new truck. I was prepared to pay cash and just sell my truck myself and had a written quote from Carmax for close to what I wanted already, but Chesrown wanted to keep my business, and that they did. They are all friendly as heck with me when I come in for my free oil changes, parts or accessories. Wyler is from Cincinnati and maybe they treat customers better there, but not around Columbus where they have a bad reputation with everyone I know, the exact opposite of the reputation that Chesrown has around the north side. Dan Tobin Chevy GMC Buick was as bad as Wyler, or worse, no price break on 2019 GMC Sierra Denali and low ball price for trade, didn’t return phone calls, never again for them. I should have just stayed with Chesrown in the first place and saved time and money while staying as happy as I have ever been with a car dealer, plus they are within ten minutes from me, what was I thinking?

My Climate control acted up every day this week saying it is off when I start the engine in the morning (11/18 DOM).  Its ridiculous there is no fix at this time.  The question is ....will it be fixed through a simple software update or do parts need to be replaced?  I hope GM finds the root cause soon for us guinea pigs!

Assuming when the message is on the screen, and  the hvac system works, there is a software fix. Has been since March. The screen may not reflect your changes but does work.

GM bulletin PIT5663. If changing the settings does nothing then you may have a different issue.
