Trailboss, Rst help

Trying to decide which one to get. I like the rst and would plan on a level and bigger tires. Always like the Trailboss because of the lift and looks. Would be taking off the tires and wheels. Can you get an Lt trailboss without leather, sunroof, rear sliding window? I dont like the custom because of the center storage compartment not opening and some other options. Anyone with a trailboss wishing they would of gotten the rst and vice versa?

Yes, you can.  The options you mentioned are in convenience package 2.  Just dont get that package.  Also, the sunroof is a standalone option and most dont have it anyways.  I have a Trailboss.  15k miles and no regrets

Thank you! Been trying to read and figure out all the different packages. Was just a little confused on some of the options. Appreciate it

I have a Z71 RST with 20"s. I really like it.

However, sometimes I will eye the Trail Boss and wonder if I should have bought that instead. When I looked at one, the added 2" lift really made the truck feel a little TOO big for me. I was coming from a 2007 LT crew, so the RST already felt much bigger (and it is).

I'm happy with the RST, though. I don't need side steps to get in comfortably, and I like my 20"s. I don't like Chevy's 20" wheel option for the Trail Bos, and I thought the 18"s did not fit it either. I think the AT4 Sierra has much nicer wheels for the 20".

One big thing you should be aware of... which is not very clear from GM...

The Rancho shocks on the RST Z71 are twin tubes, they are NOT monotube. The Ranchos on the Trail Boss are better shocks. They ARE monotube.

Main thing I have envy about with the TB is the black front end. I think that would make the RST look even better if it was all black.

I bought the rst z71. Love the looks of the trail boss and wasn't against getting one. But the rst I got had all of the options I wanted and they offered a better deal on it over the trail boss. I already purchased a 2" lift and I'm looking for wheels/ tire package now to give me the aggressive look like the trail boss. I honestly prefer the body matched bumper over the all black, but that's just personal preference. Buy what you can get the best deal on. The rest can be added.

A TrailBoss LT is the same setup as an LT/RST trim as far as equipment options.  TrailBoss Custom is the same as a Custom as far as equipment.  The difference comes down to the TrailBoss having the factory installed lift and the Duratracs.

If you like the body color of the RST but want the TrailBoss, you can buy an RST and add the factory TrailBoss 2 inch lift.

Or, you can buy the TrailBoss LT.

I drove the the RST with 20s and the trail boss with 18s. Hands down the trail boss all day long every day. The ride was night and day different to me.

I went into it thinking rst, but quickly switched to TB after driving both in person.

Yes you can get LT TB without leather and sunroof. I have seen more like that then loaded ones in my area anyway.

Thank you. How much was the lift? The dealer told me 4500. That seems really high to me?

I haven't got to test drive either one yet. I will next week. I'm just not a fan of the duratracs. I would replace them if I went that way.

Definitely seems high. I thought it was a $2500 add-on from GM?

GM Accessories lists the OEM parts at $1295. $3K+ for labor is just way too high.

$800 more for 20 inch trail boss rims with regular tires. Or $800 for a regular set of tires and sell the duratacs on Craigslist for $500.

I love the TB but wanted more options (cooled seats, I actually like chrome, etc) so I got the LTZ Z71.  I figure for less than 2k I can get the same stance/suspension that I wanted in the TB. It would cost a lot more if not be really difficult/impossible to mod a TB with some of the options I have/wanted.

It was a really tough decision and I gotta say if they had a TB In white At that time I dunno what would have happened!

Get an LT on discount for way less money, and spend the money you saved on the wheels, tires, and lift you really want?
