Vibration Issues?

Recommended Posts

Would like to hear if anyone on here has experienced a vibration issue with their GMC or Chevy trucks and if anyone was able to find a fix/remedy for that issue? Thanks in advance for any info!

Didja read the Sticky posts above?

Its common. So common...there’s sticky posts above.

At what speed...what tires you got? Have you tried setting it on fire?

Yes the fire does work nicely. Lol

There is a gm bulletin on how the dealer is to troubleshoot it. Also a part that they can determine if needed and install.

Worst case it is the driveshaft or the axles then it is around a $1000 to fix. But start with roadforce balanced tires. Then check pinion angles.

I’ve had to get my tires road force balanced 3 times at the dealership. They would be good for a few weeks and then get out of balance again. It’s now as smooth as it’s ever been and no vibrations. I’ll never buy a set of goodyears ever....

Vindicta,

Pull up your recliner and bowl of popcorn.

Plenty of reading material here:

This. Took me nearly a year and something like 12 dealer visits amounting to 40+ in-shop days to resolve my steering wheel and center console vibration and it was entirely due to the Goodyear Wrangler SRAs. The dealer ordered like 22 tires to find four in spec over the course of MULTIPLE tire replacement visits and those still had lateral run out and would easily come out of balance. Eventually I lost my patience, threw a fit, and worked out a deal for a set of Michelin Defender LTXs. Found out the toe alignment on my front passenger side was way out of spec SINCE NEW, too, which could’ve been causing wear problems and then vibrations. Forced them to fix that for free, too. Have not had any issues since in 4,000ish miles. 2018 LT z71 4x4 Crew Cab, by the way.

This truck does have a lot of road feel/feedback, though I suppose that is to be expected on such a vehicle, especially with a z71 suspension that has only 10,000 miles on it. Will probably move to Bilstein shocks once my watranty is done.

I will never buy a Goodyear product for the rest of my life, even their top of the line tires.  I’ve always had good luck with Michelin’s and Coopers. Hopefully it stays that way.

Vibration occurs for those who do not have SRA-S also.

Stock ride height, leveled or lifted it still happens.

There are many different cases ranging from tire imbalance to improperly torqued leaf spring U-Bolts.

Pentagon got broke. We started having Defense Contractors installing Chinese tires on everything.

They would develop sidewall bubbles immediately...just sitting. No driving. I would complain. I couldnt read the Chinese to figure out the tire pressure. Contractor flipped the tire as English was on the other side. Still didnt say a tire pressure.

Thats the stuff on ‘Nuclear Certified’ vehicles now...like 40 foot trailers and tractors.

Pentagon soooo broke has to spend billions daily replacing Chinese tires that fail just sitting there....thinking they are “saving money”. Some young officer got a $10,000 reward and immediate rank increase because of it...but she never panned out.

Tire quality....has gone up since. Hopefully Congress can make up for their dire early losses.

i personally believe the drive shafts, tires, axles, etc are fine and balanced, its the direct injection system is out of tune in the ecu that needs work, this is where the vibes are coming from. also sludging of intake valves in the head causes the VE (volumetric efficiency) of each cylinder to go out of whack. and thus an imbalance of engine airflow, causes vibes and rough running motor...
