Trailer brake add??

So I found this wiring harness and instructions that say trailer brake. Is this all that’s needed to add a trailer brake system or is there more to it? I don’t need it really but if I can add it why not lola13c6564dfd4da56a9b405e509c39464.jpgb79dfe03f170247ce21477f15d1977f8.jpg

Yes that is the harness to add a aftermarket style brake controller.

You cannot add the factory integrated brake controller.

There is a couple threads on here that show some interesting places to mount a controller other than the typical under the steering wheel knee banging regular spot.

Yeah, I have the same thing. And it will stay in the glove box until I get a trailer that the state of Wisconsin requires me to use trailer brakes on. (over 3,000lbs)

May never happen.

Note, you would still need to buy the actual trailer brake controller.  What you have is for connecting the TBC to the truck.

Yep sounds like to much of a hassle to me. I’ll just leave it in the glove box. It was of a curiosity then anything.

Cannot add factory trailer... not yet anyway :)

I’ve got my cluster and chassis control module out to www.whiteautoandmedia.com for programming. Once I get it back, I am going to give it a go. It’s been driving me crazy that I HAVE to try and add it. I rarely tow anything. But wanna give it a go. I love R&D. Lol.

There is all sorts of wiring from the switch, all the way down the to modules...

I see pulled parts, oem, for the brake controllers.  At this point it's really just the wires.  So I would assume getting the oem part will hook right up and put the brake controller on the top right corner...

That's what I am looking to do.  Will cost about $60, cheaper than most after market controllers.

Programming of the cluster is needed (to enable to graphical icons), programming of the chassis control module as well.
