Just got back from a Rocky Mountain High. (granddaughters' graduation) Came back a day early on the wife's advice and glad I did. (She stayed home unable to travel. Still mending) Had I left on my schedule I may never had posted again. I-80 threw Iowa was 2-3" hail and tornadoes galore. That wave missed me at home by about 10 miles north and the same distance south. Dad's house in Cedar Rapids got HAMMERED. :sigh:

Been nice but could use some moisture. I would prefer rain, but snow is possible.

Last year drought, this year floods. They like to place labels. It’s just a cycle. Been here before.

We’ve  been  in drought conditions here for 35 years.

35 years? I would then call that a normal weather pattern.

Just under 5" of rain in the last 12 hours in two major waves out of Minnesota direction. Grass cutting is becoming more like baling hay this July.

Same here in central Maryland dry as hell we had chance of a good rain the other day but as always it gets close to central Maryland and splits off and goes north and south of the area, walking out to my shed in the back is like walking through and field of potato chips crunch crunch. Heat index is suppose to get to 110 degrees over the next few days.

We got the second wave last night and added another 5" in about 90 minutes. Over ran the eves. Filled the basement window boxes and broke the window. Niagra Falls and 7" of water in the basement.

So today was clean up and board up and sandbags for tonight. Which is still in progress and raining 2" in the last hour with much yet come. So far the bags are doing their job. Will be days or even a week cleaning up and drying out.

Unusual weather. Had 5 storms yesterday with some hail. Big storm woke me up last night, raining now. The storms yesterday caused some washout damage to our road.

Nice to have the moisture though.

Edit

Forgot it's 46 degrees.

New has reported an update from last weekend's storms. 30 confirmed tornados hit our area in two days. We drove around to see the damage for several within 50 miles of home. Surprising how much damage an EF-0 can cause. As many mature trees as were snapped off or torn out of the ground, very little structure damage to homes. Didn't even see one where a tree fell on a home. Whew! Within our reach they were EF-0 and EF-1. The EF-2 was about another 25 miles east of us.

Even in areas where there were no tornados, the straight-line winds still were taking trees up to foot in diameter. I've been cleaning up limb damage all week. Poor trees. Poor squirrels! 😱

Driving back from KC Kansas saw many start up tornadic swirls that died out. We are getting that rain here we have no seen in years and its welcome.  Avoided coming up to Illinois to slap Grumpy in head because felt sorry for him flooding.  LOL
