Another whacky weather week up here. Tornado warnings in 4 of the last 5 days. Phone alert at 1:38 AM for the first one took a few years off my life. The others have been in the late evenings. Thankfully no damage. Just lots of rain. We had already exceeded the monthly average in the first 7 days. Not sure where we stand now but has to be a record.

I’m sure @Grumpy Bear has been seeing similar crap down by him. Tonight’s band was 1000 miles wide…

We had basement time. Not fun as the wife just had a hip replacement and stairs were not on her bingo card. Rain, wind, hail and twisters. YUCK. Still our property has faired better than many. We spent heavy last year on water abatement and it has already paid for itself. Basement is as dry as can be. Roof looks good and we lost no glass. Big upgrade.

We were out of the tornado warning by 10 pm last night but the rain kept up for a few hours more and the thunder was deafening at times.

As of this morning we've had but three days this April without rain. We have twice our monthly average at 6.09 inches. This is keeping the sump pumps busy and the grass by the bubbler watered to death; cutting a ditch in the turf. Better than in the basement. More is forecast for later this week but we are getting a few dry days. Those few are recording sub freezing temperatures over night killing off early sprouts.

I have to say the lawn has never looked better and I've mowed a summers worth already. Glad gas is cheap

I forget; how high are you guys? BTW...how's the wife doing?

9200 feet Grumpy. We got 18 inches over 2 1/2 days, 19 degrees today.

Wife is doing ok. Her eyes will never be the same but it could be worse.

Thanks for asking.

3" of rain yesterday in 30 minutes. 2" 24 hours earlier and we are getting another storm that say  is larger today in about 2 hours.

We had about the average for April, a very VERY dry May and now I'm hoping to see a rainbow in June. Corn is loving this stuff.

Local Weather tells us that we tied a record in June for hottest single day on record since the 1930 "Dust Bowl" period. We also set a record for number of consecutive days of 100F or more  F heat index for June.  July is going to start with a three day string of 100+ heat index days. We may get some relief on Saturday but even that day is a Level 1 risk.

I can't imagine what it is like for those east of us that are 10 degrees hotter. Whew!

Saw some guys in a grocery store parking lot yesterday hand patching pot holes in mid afternoon covered head to toe in dark heavy clothing and hats. Nothing but eyeballs to be seen. Working like madmen. Not a water bottle in sight. That's nuts.

    • I understand that. The price is what it is, though. The price is what oil costs today, where our choices have led us, where supply is, and where demand is, in the market that is. Speculation is for futures, what we think the price will be, but with incomplete information at the time the price is forecast. I know you know this, but you appear to be intent on making a secondary point here about what you think the market could or should be, if only other choices.   In 1975 it became illegal to export US Crude. I'm conflicted on what the best answer is. Free markets allow export in pursuit of profit. But there is also a lot to gain by producing and consuming our own oil here. How do you reconcile it?
    • That sir is a choice. And even if it were not for all the reasons stated, this disruption has zero to do with the reality of the actual logistics and everything to do with the greed of SPECULATION. Spot price is irrelevant to reality.
    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
    • The turn signal/multifunction switch is faulty.  I've seen a few of these go bad at work.
    • I am experiecing the same issue, I have gone in the setting and disabled rain sensing function but I am still experiencing this. Whe i use my turn signal they will redomly turn on.
