Window tinting

This is the first vehicle I've had that is partially tinted by the manufacturer. I would like to tint the front and possibly a strip on the front windshield. Does anyone know what percentage of tint the rear/back windows and does anyone know what type of tint....

 

Im assuming its cheap tint and Im going to have to have them pull the previous tint and install all new ceramic for a full quality job..

Did they tint over the factory tint? The tint from the factory is built In-between the glass. There is no getting it off. I did 15% on the front 2 windows and a strip on the windshield.

That’s how I had them do the strip which I like how it looks the best.

when i had mine match tinted the installer threw a meter on it to confirm the level to match.

The factory doesn't use window film.  As said, the factory privacy glass is tinted inside the glass and can't be removed.  Window film can be added on top of the factory privacy to darken it.  The factory privacy glass is lighter than previous years though.

Probably in the neighborhood of 20%.

Well thats not ideal.....Im guessing an exact or even close match between the front and rear is going to be very difficult..

 

My state has crazy laws so I guess I'm going to pay for a no-tint cystalline tint on the rear and get as close as I can with a tint crystalline on the front..

You can get it close you will see a little diff looking between the front door and back inside the truck. Outside you won’t notice a thing.

Every manufacturer is different..
Usually between 20-35

Any reputable shop can usually match it very close... just don’t go darker than the back... will look weird as hell.

Yep, previous gen Silverado's were around 20% now I think the '19's are closer to 30-35%.

In Washington, I'm only allowed 24%. If the factory tint is as dark as stated here, perhaps I will just skip it.

Although with the sunroof shade open, it seems barely tinted at all, and I feel like I'm sitting in a fish bowl! I may end up changing my mind as I have always had the front match the back as close as possible.

Even a clear ceramic on the back will help with heat in a big way. Not sure how things are where you are but out police and state inspection locations all have tint meters. Swing by and have them throw a meter on the rears if you want to know exact numbers.

Go with the ceramic tint, it’s excellent. Works perfectly in the bright Snowy light as well as the Sun and heat reduction is best.

I just went out checked mine, the factory windows measured at 22% Our meter skews off a couple percent so figure 25%

Ceramic is for sure worth it’s weight but just too expensive for my taste. I tinted all my windows except the front windshield all for 140. Ceramic would have been about 950+.
