He supposed to have 3 on ignore. If you take the time to read his post especially on his Terrain. You’ll see he contradicts himself. I’ll admit he does some good with oil issues. When you point out that you’re not actually saying money with extreme measures. That ruffles his feathers. I pointed out his condescending remarks. He called me a liar. So I don’t reply to him anymore. He’s admitted lately he doubled his investment on terrain. Something I pointed out would happen years ago. Put an engine in it I said at the time. He thought his efforts would reverse the trajectory. So after the first 80K miles. He put enough oil through it to support a small town. Enjoy the blather. He’s a hoot. You can learn things from him. Only if you can weed through the BS.

When you post the first few lines of your post show in the "popular post' area on the right of the page? Your posted images still show in "Posted Images"? True flaws in the system indeed. Based on the hours, average speed ~56.2 MPH.

I love those old Duramax trucks. We had a C5500 motorhome with the LLY (LBZ). For '06 the two engines were basically the same but the medium duty trucks hung on to RPO LLY for the engine code, otherwise the two engines appeared identical to me. What a great engine. We towed all over with it, just about 26k gross combined, fully loaded. They were easy to maintain, sounded great. The truck was always a conversation starter wherever we stayed. I miss that one.

The LBZ was not originally a pickup/van motor. It was designed and installed as a Commercial Fleet Truck Motor. I did not know that until poking around a bit.

From 2001 to 2005 is was used only in the Chevy Kodiak and the GMC Top Kick. First used in a HD pickup in 2006 and only two years as the LBZ. The LLY had different tuning to meet EPA restrictions according to WIKI

That the case it is a different animal than consumer diesels by and large and is more like the Isuzu N series

My Uncle Garry ran two of these past 1 million miles working for White/Volvo

Both on AMSOIL and both extended OCI's.

Diesel, even consumer versions, have very different proportions and metallurgies and run vastly slower. Yes more cylinder pressure is available but not often used. Same motor pulling an airstream was loafing.

Not discounting the feet of a million miles. Bravo! Just saying one should EXPECT it.

You forgot about the LB7 was the first in 2001 for the pickup truck then the LLY came out in 2004.5 which I had the only difference was HP increase and torque the LB7 had internal fuel injectors which were a problem and big expense to replace the LLY had external injectors then the LBZ came after the LLY.

Have a young man who is my stretch therapist who owns a 2006 C3500 dually LLY and he keeps blowing out his fuel rail seals. Anyone know why? It was stolen a while back so lord knows the thieves did. It was use to stump pull ATMs while stolen in Houston! Before police recovered it.

His MPG is terrible.

We tried and tried to use GM 3/4-1 ton trucks. We did have reasonable service out of the 6.0 gas in a service truck. We still have a few older Ford 7.3s and a 98 Ram 5.9. They all run on Amsoil extended. In the end of my run I was the only one who used GM half tons. Until they got funky with cylinder deactivation. The 5.9 Cummins just did the job until it had competition from the 7.3. The GM diesels well maybe they’re better now. When I visit the shop it’s Fords mostly. These are spread sheet companies. I got anti social with a Ridgeline.
