Dealer repair completion...?

I just got my 19 Silverado Back....  In for ...Excessive Brake Wear per sensor... Climate Control showing off on display..... Rear Vision System shows service system...Whistling sound in a/c vent..  Here is the synopsis... The results...

I took my 19  6.2 into dealer on Monday showing 7600 miles highway driving and 39 % front and 67% rear brake life remaining...The repair receipt says... Front and Rear Pads at 10mm...  vehicle is operating as designed..then further down it says owner states brake wear seems excessive...  results:

DTC C1162 ...Diag to internal fault in front disk pad wear sensor.  Replace Front Disc pad wear sensor.

2. Again mentioned Climate control display states Climate Off on numerous occasions....Repair says NO FIX AT THIS TIME...

3.Rear vision problem ...DOC#5283004 .. Reprogram Video Processing Control Module.

4. Preformed Recall number N192210560 .. reprogrammed module.

5. A/C whistling..... normal sound...REALLY !! a HIGH PITCHED WHISTLE??

I have received a case number from Chevrolet Cust Ser Division.... I am documenting the repairs through them   and getting closer to my lemon law repair number...  I love this truck , but, it is wrong for a company to sell a 65K + vehicle and have the repair to the climate control   as NO FIX AVAILABLE .. Well I am getting mad now..THEY BETTER FIX IT OR I WILL take it back each week till its fixed on lemoned.... It is 97 degrees in SW Florida , I don't need this control gently sending slightly cool air at min circulating speed....

Question for forum... as to the brakes.. is 10 mm good or bad for highway driving  at 7600 miles...

How do we reset the brake monitor..The tech was "too Busy to correctly reset my rear monitor.. but finally did it in 10 secs... How do we do it??

Thanks .. just wanted to give everyone an update...

Just because I had the same #5 issue and the fix for mine made me and the dealer feel REALLY dumb I'll share this with you at the peril of looking like a complete idiot.  I don't use the back seat much, and this is the first Silverado with rear vents.  In my case, those rear vents were closed which caused extra pressure in the front that made a high pitched whistle.  I took it in twice and they couldn't figure it out either time and gave me the same it must be normal response.  My son is actually the one who figured it out by accident because he got hot in the back seat and said the vents weren't blowing.  Opened them up and instantly the whistle stopped.  have not heard it since.

It may not be the problem with your's, but it's worth a check.

At least my dealer looks like an idiot too!  I'm used to it myself because it seems to happen more than it should to me.

You can reset the brake pad monitor in the DIC, same procedure as resetting the oil life. You can also just turn the monitor off which might be the better way.

I understand the frustration as I have had much of the same issues. When it comes to bugs, GM seems to move very slowly on fixing them, but eventually they do. Whether or not it approaches lemon law is I guess up to you and your state’s law. Hope it doesn’t have to come to that for you because that process is worse than getting them to try to fix the electrical gremlins!

New brake pads come with 10-12mm just an FYI.

They are brand new still.

My Climate control acted up every day this week saying it is off when I start the engine in the morning (11/18 DOM).  I agree that its ridiculous there is no fix at this time.  The question is ....will it be fixed through a simple software update or do parts need to be replaced?  I hope GM finds the root cause soon for us guinea pigs!

39% for the front pads at 7500 miles? That sounds excessive, especially since my 14 still has the original pads with a lot of live left at 56k miles. Mostly city driving for me with some highway driving to the camp grounds.

An update on Climate issue and brakes.

The dealer again sent me home with a receipt that stares : " Found Doc #52743SS "

No Fix At This Time....

My customer service representative at Chevrolet ..Chevrolet Customer Assistance placed a conference call between the service mgr and myself with her taking notes. The service mgr said that it is a software problem that has no fix...I responded I spent 65K for a new Chevrolet that you can't repair? I want to investigate a manufacturers buyback. I really like the truck but I don't want a problem in a few years when trading in!! I told them to replace the head unit..the dealer said it was a software issue, only a few vehicles have had. There is no fix...  So today it was 106 in my truck and the ac was cold then when i stopped and restarted... CLIMATE OFF...and it recycled cabin air..warm 98 degrees and stuffy... I will see what Chevrolet says about this.

As to the brakes ..mine measured 10mm front and back..they replaced a pad sensor they said was defective... I am dubiously watching my monitor.. I do not know if 10mm is a good amount for 7500 miles or not. It is mainly highway driving.

I will keep everyone in the loop..

So, I'm not sure of the fan noise. I did test drove an AT4 and the blower made noise. I recommend you call the Chevy 1800 number and eventually get to the regional manager. I did this with a Ford and eventually they replace my radiator fan and issue a TSB ro replace many fans. It does take some time and effort.

This kills me. I am going to say the same thing when I bring mine in.  The 'climate control off' happens at least once a day to my truck.

OP, 10mm of brake pad depth is great.  No way that is 39%.  So, either the sensor is bad or the computer is messed up.

But, your brakes are fine, don't sweat that.

The climate control issue is something else all together.  Stay on them, make them get it right.

You didn't spend enough. If you had spent 70k you would have a perfect working AC system. What does the 65k you spent entitle you to than a guy who spent 45k on this truck? How did you get an LTZ to 65k? Who pays MSRP on a truck?

If they don't have a fix for it what you you want them to do? Keep your truck for a few weeks or months until one comes available and you run around in a rental equinox?

Btw, an AC whistle won't fall under Florida lemon law as they state "Under Florida law, a “lemon” is a purchased or leased, new or demonstrator motor vehicle which has “nonconformities” that the manufacturer or dealer has not been able to fix after a “reasonable number of repair attempts.” The “nonconformity” must be a defect or condition that substantially impairs the vehicle’s use, value or safety."

Not sure any lawyer can argued an AC whistle is a safety or value issue.

I guess I just have a different mind set... BTW by the time you add the LTZ, Z71, Tech, Sun, 6.2, and other misc charges you get 63,430.00   then you add the hard tonneau, splash guards, and maint pkg..and the total was 65,539.00 .Look it up and do the math, son.....I received a 2500$ discount ..then with state fees and sales tax..67692.00... The dealers were not discounting too heavily in November of 18..the trucks were in short supply.. Now as you so poignantly mentioned, the discounts are over 10K..I needed a truck then not now, lots of things happen in 7 months..There are still a limited supply of 6.2's here.  When I see the word entitle ...I know where the poster's mindset is.. Everyone has the right to complain..I would assume a person who had this issue with a 45K truck would be just as upset and I would hope he would press the issue to Chevrolet . However I would assume you would find fault with something in his post also. I am only focusing my complaints on the climate control..The whistling sound as I am sure you read from another poster is resolved by opening the rear vents... As for the loaner, they give me a Tahoe...
