Third water pump failure in 1.5 yrs.  Leaking at the weep hole.  Thank goodness for the 2 yr. warranty.  All procured from Rock Auto.  I can almost change it in my sleep.

That's why I buy local as I get the part warrantied and don't have to wait on shipping from a online retailer.

Have you replaced the fan clutch by chance? Just a thought in case it's sticking?

Are you using OEM recommended coolant fluid as this makes a difference as well or at least that's what they say.

You're AC Delco water pump was likely created by the same company that created water pumps for Ford, Dodge, Honda, Crapota, and many others.

Just like with brake shoe lining. There's one company in China that makes it for all the U.S. companies and the U.S. parts market buyers take and sell it to all the different companies who make brake shoes. Heck we could get our own line of brake shoes if we wanted. Just need the capital and you can put your name on anything.

The automotive parts market has become a commodity market;

Parts that are of equal value to a consumer no matter what company produces and markets it, and as such, is available at any discount with little differentiation among brands.

I heard rockauto is getting the Chinese knock off problems, but I haven’t experienced any issues.   amazon is bad too.

I just check reviews carefully and try to look at who is facilitating/fulfilling  the shipment.

Somethings wrong.

If it happens 3 times in 1.5 years there's a common factor causing it and being missed.

You can deny this.

I have never had a part fail 3 times.

My 2 cents.

Agree.  Sounds like something is stressing the pump.  I would say the belt is too tight but it has it's own tensioner.  Maybe the clutch fan is bad as well?

All parts were made in China.  New ACD fan clutch at time of the first installation.  Using new Prestone Dex-Cool with each replacement.  I don't know of anything I'm doing to create a seal leak 6+ months later after installation.  I'm going to see if Rock Auto will let me change over to Gates this time.

Aside from the $42 cost differential, what's the physical difference between ACD OEM vs. ACD Professional?   I'm using the professional version if that even matters.

What your buying is a water pump made by some other china company and AC Delco puts there name on it AC Delco doesn't make them that's why there so cheap, you have to look for a "AC Delco GM genuine replacement part" they are made by GM they will run you upwards to around 200 bucks or more.

Keep in mind Rock auto sells junk china parts, why do you think there prices are so cheap. The old saying is you get what you pay for.
