RAM sells more than Silverado for 2nd quarter

The F-150 took what seemed like 9 months to regain it's dominance when they unveiled the AL Truck whenever that was?  Let's face it Ram put the money on the inside.  GM put the money everywhere else but the inside.  This way the Full FRAME and CABS are NEW opposed to RAM's HD's.  I have 88K on my 2016 and every electronic and button works the same as when I bought it.  Talk to me in 5-6yrs about your RAM?  I will still be driving a slow, outdated Government Motor's truck that just simply works everyday and costs very little to maintain comparably to RAM,FERD when they get long in the tooth.

I've owned 3 Dodge Chrysler products since 2004-2020 by far the Dodge Fiat products suck,  the warrantee service is horrible, the techs that do repairs are incompetant...  the dodge truck owners are new to the brand , and dont know better

Or they're suckers for punishment. My uncle seems to think it's better to buy a new Ram 3500 every few years and take it to the shop every few months than to spend a few dollars more on initial purchase to get a GM HD and run it for 10 years+.

There is a lot of discussion regarding the 2019 T1 Interiors.  I think the best summation came from a YouTube video by TFL out of Canada.  The guy was saying how great the Ram was, how much better the interior was than the Sierra all while driving the Ram.  Then he drove the Sierra and again saying how great the Ram was until he logged a few miles on the Sierra and stuck his foot in it.  He changed his tune quite a bit.  Both trucks were top of the line and he was really pleased with the performance of the 6.2 and the 10 speed.  His statement that Ram spent their money on the interior and GM spent their money on the drive train was of importance to me.  He did say that Ram interior was more in line with a luxury truck  Remember the T1's have a whole new chassis and suspension compared to the K2's.  And the 6.2 with the 10 speed is a huge improvement over the K2.  I had a 2017 Sierra with the 6.2 and now have a 2019 Sierra with the 6.2.  This truck will run circles around the 2017 and it rides a lot better too.

Engines all have new technology but no noticeable improvements in fuel economy or power, tow capacity is relatively the same as any other brand. What exactly are you getting by buying GM?

No noticeable improvement in fuel economy or power? I easily average 24 mpg cruising the highway and can hit 28 mpg if I try. My 2014 could never do that. Not to mention the addition of sport mode to the 2019's made the truck feel a lot faster. The 2019 Silverado with the 5.3 is as fast as a 2019 Ram with the 5.7 while getting significantly higher fuel economy in real world reports. Most 2019 Ram owners are saying they have a hard time getting more than 20 mpg.

You can't use JD Power to prove quality on anything.  Basically, JD is the equivalent of the old Italian mafia.  If you pay, you get protection.  If you don't pay, they cause you problems.  It's all just a big fake cheerleading con job.  JD hits all of the manufacturers up for sponsorship money.  The more they pay, the better their rankings.  After the bankruptcy, GM pumped a bunch of $ to JD Power and their rankings miraculously vaulted up the list.  Funny how that works.  Just remember, when it comes to marketing, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.  Buyer beware.

So is Toyota pumping tons of money into JD Power to keep Toyota and Lexus brands at the top of their lists every year? If it was as simple as paying for your placement on the list, why wouldn't FCA pay to get all their brands off of the bottom of all the JD Power rankings? They have all kinds of money to do it.

i bought the Chevy for the driveline, hence I own a 5.3 with a 6 spd and 3.72 final drive,  has all the options  I need. and I dont want a pretty interior, I drive a truck not a BMW. I have a dog and makes the back carpet look like shit, I wish it came with rubber flooring instead of carpet.

if its anything like the Hemi Challenger than I dont want that high powered POS that has more issues than you can imagine.

Toyota does do very nice quality components . I would give GM an A for most of thier products , but Toyota and Honda would get an A+ +. they always go above and beyond the competition in the Finer details or fit an finish, but they do lack ruggedness

they get shitty MPG cause they all have 20" or larger wagon wheels that weigh 80-90lbs each and they run 87 octane.  that will kill your efficiency for sure!

I don't think the Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Tundra, Tacoma, and Sequoia lack ruggedness. There's a reason those are the go-to vehicles for the UN in war zones.

Toyota must be doing something to maintain the teflon coating on their marketing image.  Remember how they never had public recalls or service bulletins until their management got called before Congress?  And magically there were lots of recalls and bulletins that appeared after that.  A friend has had TWO generations of Tacomas recalled because the frames rusted all the way through.  Go figure.  (But then again, half the people in America are registered liberals, which proves it's easy to fool some of the people all of the time.)

FCA doesn't have to worry about JD, mostly because they don't have the stacks of cash that the other manufacturers do.  Fiat sucks and won't sell in America no matter what they do, Chrysler is down to about 2 vehicles for sale pending shuttering, Dodge is surprisingly still doing fine pumping out Hemi coupes and sedans, Ram just passed GM for the Number 2 spot in truck sales, and people are crazy about high-$ Jeeps.  Remember when GM had a chance to buy Jeep cheap and passed it up to create the Hummer division?  In retrospect, that sure was a smart move.  NOT.  Time will tell what happens to FCA since Sergio Marchionne's death (R.I.P.)

I have 20" on my RST and I run 87 octane. Been getting 24 mpg too. And it's a 4x4. Not to mention almost 100 more horsepowers than the 4Runner. I was lucky to get 18 mpg out of the rental 4Runner a few years ago, no idea how the hell EPA got higher numbers. And I'm getting way better than EPA numbers on my 355-hp V8 Silverado.

maybe going down hill sure...what gauge are you reading, you have to go into a sub menu within the mpg gauge and adjust the average milage calculated per fuel burned, " the lower mpg number is the accurate mpg"..  I've found that zeroing the trip meter on every fill , gives the correct mpg .

there is also another mpg readout directly under the trip meter menu, which is more accurate

I hand calculated it and it was pretty much spot-on, unlike the previous generation K2. Other users reported the same. I went 65 on a very flat surface in the desert and got 28.8 after 50 miles. I am currently averaging at 22 mpg, some days, I get 24. I tried driving really easy on the 4Runner and couldn't get above 18.

Do you own a 2019? The DIC is way better now.

22mpg is accurate... 24 mpg your driving atleast 58mph with the wind to your back

i find city driving yields 12-13mpg on cheap gas, and 89-91 octaine will bump you 2mpg gain

    • Late reply, but yes—it works on the SLT trim. Compatibility comes down to the plastic shroud shape behind your mirror, not the trim badge itself. On the SLT with auto-dimming, it uses a plug-and-play Y-harness off the mirror/rain sensor power, so no need to run wires down to the OBD port. If anyone's ever unsure about fitment, just drop a photo of your mirror housing and we can double-check it.   Appreciate the detailed feedback on the install! On the windshield glare—we actually took feedback like yours and developed a dedicated CPL (polarizer) filter to cut down dash reflections on sunny days. If you're still running the cam, shoot me a DM. I'd be happy to send a CPL filter over for you to test out—no charge.
    • There are no stickers in your glovebox?
    • Look at the numbers on the stickers in the door jam...
    • Yes, every time the developer updates his code, you must recompile. I will private message you with the latest because it changes pretty much with every version.
    • After I wrote that reply I went for a ride. 85 F out. So trans started at 85 F and it shifted the same as it did an hour latter at 168 F. I've never actually recorded the to cold to shift point but it is under 32 F before they start hanging on to a lower gear or leaving the converter unlocked. Both intended to heat fluid.    Yes, brake or bake. Absolutely.      Your welcome. True research ended decades ago. Field trials are still in play.    There is a thing called oxidation onset temperature. This is the heat related oxidation not the O2 exposure kind. For mineral oil that starts at 140 F. So what happens after 140 F? Each 20 F cuts fluid life in half! Does using a Full Synthetic improve that? Yes! By how much? Depends on the base oil type and a few other factors. But enough to notice. Some esters are even higher. There are even synergies between types the will raise it higher than any one component is alone.    Then there is "Hindered" oils. Antioxidant additives. Hindered Polyol Esters can sit at 500 F for years in a turbine.   When a blender brags his oil will 'take 500 F" in service he doesn't specify for how long. Water will dance on a 500 F hot plate for several seconds. @newdude put up a chart showing the relationship between fluid temperature and it's life in an automatic transmission. Here's a version of that chart for Group III based oils. These temperatures are those in the pan as observed as 'normal'. that is you drive as you do for as long as you do under what load you ask of it and whatever that temperature is this graph applies to. Flash temperatures of a few minutes isn't what his means.    Note that fluids held at a constant 240 F have a service life of only 20K miles. 220 F explains the factory exchange limit, eh? My equipment I keep under 180 F and I'm good if the cooler will hold it as low as 140 F. But that's me.
