Hot front brakes

I got back from a 150 mile trip the other day and decided to rinse the truck off.  While spraying the front wheels off I noticed a lot of steam coming off them.  I felt the discs and they were so hot I could only bare to touch them for a second or two.  The back discs were barely warm in comparison, it seems as though the front brakes are not fully disengaging.   Has anyone else experienced this?  The truck is going in next week for an oil change and I will have them check it out but I am curious in the meantime.  Thanks

Normal but if it makes you feel better have the dealer inspect when you bring it in.

Whatever you do don't go touching hot brake rotors, your talking thousands of pounds of mass with force behind it and using friction to stop it all. Watch an auto race at night and you can see their brakes glowing red hot when applied and as silverado said do not soak them with cold water after a long drive, they are thinner and cheaper then ever and you can easily warp them out by doing that.

Very normal that's why I always let the my vehicles cool down mostly the brakes before hitting them with cold water you can easily warp the rotors.

Not to be a douche here, but it’s a common misconception that brake rotors actually “warp”. They don’t. Cold water isn’t going to hurt them either even if they are really hot.

A quick google search will set you straight there (pun intended, lol).

Sure.  They don't "warp", but they do end up with a non-uniform surface.  Which is what everyone means when they say "warped", and which is a problem, and which is all reasonable people really care about.  Simply saying "rotors don't warp" is ignoring the issue and not addressing the problem.

So yeah, it's douchey to point that out instead of saying something productive.

See?  You obviously understand what it means to be a douche!  Good job there.
