Parked my truck in my drive way went inside the house took a shower and chilled for about 1 hour, hour and a half cane back outside opened the door and smoke started coming out, started coughing right away. Didn’t know what the heck was going on all I smelled was smoke, looked at my passenger seat and notice the seat, center console and my top console with my back window controls also melting. I noticed a sounds of crackling ( burning) Inside the center console but couldn’t see no flame anywhere at all

I took it to the dealership and showed it to them they right away pointed to the wiring harness that inside the center console. Electrical shortage is what they said. It sucks they also said repairs have to be out of pocket or through my insurance my warranty was expired . Just wanted to post for other drivers to be aware I called gmc to let them know about the problem they seemed to not care that much, Gave me a $100 dollar voucher to get it inspected the inspection is ($160) Lol

Any pictures of the overhead console?

Would not think they are linked together. Odd that they both caught on fire at the same time.

No the top didn’t catch any fire. I think that is started burning from the console and then the heat might’ve started melting the top console Melting ant the same time shrinking the console on top

Wow! Very sorry to hear this. When I see “Center Console” and “burned”... naturally, I wanted to read this thread.

I have seen and have had my hand over 1000 door harnesses over the course of the last few years. I carefully inspect each harness. I occasionally found cuts/slits in the outer insulation jacket of the main positive and ground wires. I’ve also seen similar cuts in jump seat/center console harnesses. This is unfortunate this happened to you and glad it didn’t happen while you were in the truck.

Sucks that GM didn’t really offer you much to get to a resolution. Something like this, you’d think they would want to do something about it.

No overload protection in our trucks? Fuses failed?

They are never going to say it's a design flaw. Turn it in to your insurance and dump it. That's what Mindy did I'm sure.

Shitty deal but what else can you do Manny?

Too bad it didn't just burn to the ground it would be much easier to deal with. Get a check from insurance go buy new truck. Easy.

Yeah they’ll never say it’s their fault, I was reading mindy’s Thread and it seemed like they where just giving her all sorts of bullshit excuses. And my insurance is making me go through a lot of shit it’s been three weeks and they haven’t done shit neither. I’m just going to end up fixing myself

Sorry to hear about your problem Manny.   If it’s any reconciliation,  manufacturers hate publicity and media.  Call your local news channel, newspapers and I’m sure someone would love to show or publish your story.  I went through hell with Hyundai after my airbags deployed inadvertently .  Took almost 3 years to finally settle the matter, but I jumped through dozens of hoops, including emailing CEO ‘s, Transport Canada, and politicians.  Finally my story made it to the six o ‘clock news.   Once I lit a fire under them it got the ball rolling.   Don’t give up brother, fight back as this is something you should not have to deal with....good luck.
