Warranty parts availability

Does anyone have any inside info when warranty parts will begin to show up at dealers? Had injector fail and it has been at the dealer a couple weeks. They don't have the fuel tubes to complete the repair and had no ETA for the part other than "Maybe when the strike is over"

It's probably going to be a couple weeks after they go back to work.

FWIW

I went to O'Reillys the other day to get a couple oil filters and they were out. The local Chevy dealer came in and bought all of them.

Give me a part number and I will tell you where it is and how to get it.
Truth is is a rep wants the dealer to get it they can make it happen as long as the have the part, 2nd option is they check inventory at dealers and ask to buy it back.

I don't know the part number they just told me it was the high pressure fuel lines needed with injector replacement on 2017 6.2l. With Millions of these units out there it is baffling to me they don't have parts somewhere? Reading other threads about failing injectors makes them high volume parts that should not be just in time ordered.

i am a gmc tech i have 8 vehicles on the lot for weeks , like nearly a month with out parts. i assume everything might get back to normal about thanksgiving.

also on the 6.2 they can have 1 of 3 injectors they are balanced/flow tested and matched and put into engine at factory. you cant tell which one it is til its removed and the part # on the injector itself is known and that part # is ordered. this is only on the 6.2 L

If you'd like to get your truck back on the road, and your dealer is cooperative, get parts numbers from them and hit up eBay. I know the parts guys well at my local dealer and they are happy to give me parts numbers if they don't have anything in stock. I've been able to get a radiator, lower hose, upper hose, and T-stat outlet off eBay for comparable pricing to the dealer, seeing as they didn't have anything in stock. Those parts were ordered the beginning of October and arrived the following week. I've also been able to source fog lamps and fog lamp bezels from eBay recently (I ordered all this stuff early Friday AM and it will be here the 30th at the latest). Lots of dealers sell parts on the side on eBay, and many (such as Parts Center Plus out of Chandler AZ) sell them with great customer service, at wholesale pricing. Definitely worth a shot.

Our dealer group has a Chevy dealer and I've been told they can "overnight" parts and get them (probably depending on the part obviously) but they have to pay freight. Also, I ordered parts for one of our used cars from the Chevy dealer the other day and they mentioned they were in the ACDelco warehouse. Maybe that's different that Chevy's warehouse itself? Not sure.

1SLOW is correct.. if the rep wants it done they can influence to get it to the store. Doesn't always happen over night and some times there isn't something they can do but a call to your factory rep could help you out if you're getting no movement.

So I spoke to some people and the strike did slow things up seen the trucks sitting full of parts. But there was a delay before strike also.
I know the service rep would get them. We got a few valley covers and fuel related parts for a 3rd part contractor a month ago. And everyone said they are impossible to source.
I would push the issues and get a resolve.
