Throttle Body & Injector Maintenance at 35k miles?

I drive a 2018 Silverado Z71 LT 4x4.  Last truck was a 2016 Tacoma.  I have it at the dealer for some warranty issues and an oil change (32k miles) and I was told the truck is due for injector and throttle body cleaning.  They said the maintenance is usually done between 30-35k miles.  Is this legit?  Sounds a little early for cleaning/flush on injectors and the throttle body.  I put almost 50k on my Tacoma and didn't have to do anything other than oil changes, a cabin filter, and tire rotations for scheduled maintenance.  The Tacoma sucked though, which is why I dumped it... for those wondering.

I’ve never had it done using top tier fuels mostly. In most manuals that’s what’s recommended. My wife’s 2001 Acura intagra type r has never had anything but top tier gas. Usually 1 tank per year. That’s right I usually drive it once a month. Runs like new. Same with an 8 year old 94K mile Genesis and 29 year old Chevy truck.

Its not NEEDED per say.  They are likely doing a top end cleaning when they clean the throttle body so since these engines are direct injected it will clean the intake valves also. Its not a bad idea to do.

Oh lord. Yes and no. There are injector issues and cleaning is good. BUT. there are also reports and bulletins about the cleaners causing damage to the cats and all them need to be replaced.

I now have 105K on my 2015 and have never had this service performed. I use local gas and toss a 2 bottles of Chevron Techron into an near empty tank; fill up then burn the tank. I do this once per oil change, 5K. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. Runs like a top. Gumout Regane and Red Line SI-1 are also good sources of high percentage PE, the active ingredient.

I am with ya and agree, but on the DI engines the injector cleaner doesnt do much. It cleans the spray tip of the injector out and may help with getting the carbon off of the piston tops, it wont clean the valves at all since the DI engines never spray fuel on the backside of the valves.

i believe techron probably does a lot. considering the injectors are deep in the heads, and get heat soaked, more than any other electronic component on the car.  its bad when  the engine is hot and old gas sits in an injector, this will cause  it to form deposits due to high temps, and stagnant fuel wich forms a shelac or deposit inside the injector. techron was origionally for cleaning valves , but thats another issue. but clean injectors is worth the money too
