Which tires are better?

I just bought a 19 RST and am going to install a 2” ReadyLift and am wanting to get new tires. I am looking a 3 different types BFG KO2’s, Nitto Ridge Grapplers, or Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac’s. Was wanting to know what everyone thought and why and also what would be the biggest size to go with after the lift with stock 20” wheels.

iv had the BFG,S ko and the kos2 on the last 6 Silverados iv had and I swear bye them dry, wet,mud,snow the only difference iv noticed with the new version ko2s is they wear out a little faster compared to the old model

cant speak to any of the tires u listed but i ran 33s on my leveled 2015 and have 33s on my trailboss...no issues or trimming. both on 20"wheels

Ko2's are a soft tire, it's a reason why they work so well when new in the snow/mud. But after the tread is half gone they turn into hockey pucks and last a long time because of that. I would never suggest those tires if you tow heavy things a lot because the soft tire and the scrubbing that can happen with turning will chew them up much quicker.

 

 

This tire debate stuff has been beat to death over and over again. Do a lot of reading and you'll see that first hand.

 

The only thing I want to you to really think about is how you use your truck and how you feel about certain sizes of tires. You need to remember that certain tire sizes will change the tire from a standard passenger tire into a LT tire. The LT tires are much heavier and will ride worse than a standard passenger tire. I'm talking like 13-16lbs per corner, that is a ton of unsprung weight you have to get going.

I've had KO's and KO2s and I cannot complain about either. They will handle most of your winter driving. I've had duratracs previously, and have them on my traibloss now.  I'm planning on running them this winter, mainly because you wont find a higher load range tire, that performs as well as the duratracs, with such a low replacement cost. I'd opt for the duratracs over the KO2s if I had to pick.

 

People swear by duratracs around my way, for winter use. Even on a 3/4T ton. They are probably the best priced tire, in regards to sizing/weight range/treadlife, as well.

 

Can't speak to the ridge grapplers, but I suspect they would be a better dry pave/road tire than the others you mentioned - most reviews i've read do not regard them highly for true winter use.

Having owned at three tires I would rate them as follows.  And I live in Michigan so the tires are used in heavy snow , ice, mud, and dirt trails. 

1-  Goodyear duratac.   Best in snow, decent on slick pavement great in mud, look good 

2- BFG KO2.  Pretty good in snow, ok on slick pavement, good in mud, looks good 

3- Ridge grappler   Not good in snow, not good on slick pavement, borderline in mud. 

Would never buy Grapplers again. And they look like coopers. Coopers = junk 

this is just my opinions take it for what it’s worth.   You really can’t go wrong with BFG or Duratracs.

I agree with coopers being junk, but comparing nitto and cooper because they look alike, isn't a very fair comparison. Nitto > Cooper by a long shot.

 

I think your ranking is spot on, I would lean towards the duratracs first, here in eastern Canada - we get 10-15' of snow a year
