2019 Lifter Failure

My 2019 Silverado just passed 4k miles and I have lifter failure. Spoke to the dealer today, they say it may take up to 89 days to get the parts. Wondering if I should just tell them to replace the vehicle (Due to lemon laws in my state) or if I should just get my money back and buy a RELIABLE truck.

Let us know what you decide.  I doubt it will be just that easy to get your money back, nor will you qualify for lemon law.  I believe lemon law requires so many unsuccessful attempts to fix a particular issue.

There are millions of these trucks on the road. Sorry that yours failed, but i dont think its common. What is the dealer offering you in choices.

If it falls in your states lemon law then get it repurchased. Its GM that does the repurchase not the dealer so that is who you will have to argue with

Mine is on its 3rd set of lifters, now at 79k miles.

Some history please.

Oil?

How often changed?

Joins and first post is a complaint and rant while insulting about reliability, something smells, umm, like a troll... If the OP would have done any homework he would have know GM trucks tend to be the most reliable out of the big 3. Never understood why people feel the need to do that kind of stuff, it brings nothing of value, he won't contribute to the forum at all. Maybe if the OP lets us know what his choice of truck is we can go on to their forums and say we had a crank failure and want to buy a reliable truck...

Everyone posts when they have a problem, that's the point.  The happy customers don't think about it and go on their way.  But when problems arise that's when the need to tell the news and ask for solutions becomes important.  It does seem unusual to have engine failure at 4,000 miles but I'm sure it happens to some unfortunate buyer.  But that's what the warranties are for because they know you can't have total 100% perfection on a production item.

My 2019 new body style silverado LT 5.3  with dfm  4000 miles on,  not even had its first oil change ,  had a p300 and a p306,   #6 cylinder misfire , collapsed lifter,   they replaced 8 lifters on that bank. had my truck fixed and back in a week.

If you don't mind, I was wondering what viscosity and brand of oil you're using?

I'm original owner, L1 Master tech.

It has always used 0w20 Pennzoil Platinum w/ PF63E - (a few time I did use 0w20 Mobil 1 AFE) General service interval 5000-7000 miles. Always monitored level,  Almost no consumption.

1st occurance:

55k~ miles - lifters were never noisy. Had my AFM deleted for about 15k miles, loaded stock tune prior to a visit to the dealer for recall, lifters would clatter very noticeably during V4 mode, both banks of lifters replaced under warranty.

2nd occurnace

60k~ miles - AFM disabled / lifter gets stuck one day getting on highway on ramp, causing dead missfire (can't remember which cyl#) - different dealer replaced both banks of lifters again under warranty

Did you by this truck brand new or used?
