8 speed transmission

Would anyone be interested in a small write up on how to remove and replace your 8 speed filter and fluid without removing the exhaust? Just curious, because it may have been covered already

Some have posted that it can be done on the 6sp but I couldn't get mine down and had to loosen up the exhaust to get the pan off.

It CAN be done on the 6 speed but that would require a jack and two blocks of wood. Would you be interested in seeing that particular procedure as well?

Right on. What do you think about flushing a high mile say 100k or so trans that's never seen a fluid exchange/ flush? My self and a few have experienced failures shortly after and the finger points to the fluid exchange

100k to me isn’t necessarily high mileage

If you flushed the transmission and then experienced a failure that means the transmission already had an underlying issue.

You may have accelerated the issue occurring you may not have. You’d never know, because it’s not as though you have two of the exact same transmissions going through the exact same conditions and you have one with flushing and one without

If it were me I’d say flush it. If it’s falling apart then you’re minimizing the damage by getting rid of garbage in the fluid. Also you have a less risk of the cooler getting blocked if there isn’t junk flowing through it.

Just my opinion based on my own real world shop experience, there are plenty of guys who may have different experiences.

I tried that method and couldn't get the exhaust to move down enough.  Trust me I tried because the last thing I wanted to do was loosen the exhaust from the manifolds but that is what I had to do.

Exactly.  I've done a few with no issues.  Only one time I did a fluid exchange on a dodge Neon and the transmission let go in a week.  But then the fluid that was in there was super dark and smelled so I took a chance not to mention it had 130k on it.
