So, my 2016 XLT FX4 is out of CPO warranty and it looks like I can no longer purchase the extended warranty due to mileage. (Verifying that for sure.). With the issues I have had listed below, I am a little wary of keeping the truck without any type of warranty on it. Would you be?

With that said, I'm looking at potentially trading it for F150, RAM, or Sierra, but have analysis paralysis due to reading way too many reviews, forums, concerns, etc. Any thoughts?

Door handle recall issue happen twice where I've had to drive 30 min to work holding my door shut
Windshield wiper/turn signal control arm go out, causing the wipers to stay on, on a dry windshield to and from vacation in FL. (Could have pulled the fuse, but rains so much en route and in Florida that I didn't want to stop and put fuse back in every 10 miles.)
Rear window defroster went out last week, whole rear window replaced.
Rock Chips rusting through the bumper (Not so much warranty, just frustrating)
Got in after not driving it for 2 weeks after having surgery, wrench icon came on, "auto start stop motor is dead". Dealer is trying to cover it, but It's "outside" the transmission so technically doesn't fall into powertrain coverage.

every truck has issues , including GM and Ram

That said go with the best deal and what looks best to you inside/out

so you come to another review and forum, more paralysis as you say

just get whatever truck YOU like the best and get the best deal on.....very simple

All 3 make awesome trucks and all 3 have trucks that suck with their known issues. I almost feel like it’s somewhat of the luck of the draw. Get the one that you like the most. Be it be the exterior or interior or Powertrain. Just make yourself happy. Chances are you’ll love it.

I voted Sierra since this is a GM forum and I'm admittedly biased. However, any of them can make a lemon, and all of them can make a good truck too. Buy what you like, get an extended warranty that covers you for as long as you plan to own it and drive happy.

I agree. They are all good trucks. Pick the one that excites you or if saving money excites you and they all seem good then see which you can get the best deal on. It’s a great time to be in the truck market... if you bring money.

You definitely do not want a new F150!  I had a 2018 with the 2.7 ecoboost that started misfiring at 29k miles and Ford couldn't fix it after swapping out everything but the short block.  After that I thought I would go with a 2019 with the 5.0 V8 for "reliability".  Within 6 months at 11k Miles the truck was drinking a quart of oil every couple thousand miles and had a bottom end knock.   Everyone at Ford (Including corporate who was involved towards the end) said it was all "normal" and "nothing to be concerned about".    I couldn't even get the service advisers at 3 different Ford dealers to acknowledge that oil blowing past the rings and out of the exhaust is bad. Turns out this issue is common among 2018+ 5.0's and they don't know how to fix it so it's "normal" until it's out of warranty and it's on your dime.   I drive way to many miles every year than to be stuck with a low quality vehicle that the manufacturer won't stand behind.

To answer the question, I'd go with a new Sierra (as I did earlier this month) with the 3.0 Duramax.  The quality is miles above anything Ford is offering right now and it drives much nicer as well.   I can't really speak to the Ram other than it seems to have a very nice interior but I'm not a fan of the exterior at all and it seems to have a lot of gimmick tech going on so that truck would be a non starter for me.

Like it was said previously, all the manufacturers have their issues. Test them all and buy what you feel suits you best. After my 15 Sierra was written off, I made a rash decision and bought a 19. Been just over a month and I don’t like it. Way too fancy for my needs. It’s up for sale.

Good luck!

I voted for new Sierra because its my preferred truck.  However, an exceptional deal on a new F150 could change my mind on a future purchase   RAM might be a respectable option but not one I'd personally consider.   You have a nice truck but it appears you want a change.   If you can afford a new truck then enjoy shopping!

If you finally have your F150 dialed in and it’s reliable, I’d keep it. Lots of garbage QC in basically all the brands right now. I’m hanging on to my 2014 GMC for the same reasons.

The option I wanted wasn't on there lol, new Tundra. Super outdated with bad MPG and overpriced but you will still be driving it without issues 10 years from now. This coming from a guy that got a lemon Tacoma which is IMO the worst truck currently made unless all you care about is off road capability.

But out of your options, the new Sierra, just don't get the sliding rear window. Honestly every brand makes lemons, my Tacoma was the first lemon I've ever had and I've owned over 30 brand new vehicles at the age of 35. So far, through the 3 Chevy trucks I've owned along with 5 family and friends with newer models, no issues other than recalls and minor things like my mirror cap popping out. GM still makes the smoothest, straightest driving vehicles in my experience. We also use only GM cars/trucks at work and still rock 2 old old Impalas pushing 100k miles with cracking dashes and hubcaps without mechanical problems. My personal work vehicle is a 2007 Silverado that has never been treated right and doesn't complain. Everyone at work treats these vehicles like crap, hoping curbs, gassing drive while still backing up, going way way past oil change time and they never break down. I hit a huge pot hole in one of our Cruze's with 70k miles a few weeks back and the airbag light came on LMAO. Chevy replaced a sensor and she keeps going.

Dunno, I honestly don't trust the GM brand but nothing tells my why I shouldn't so I buy them.

Don't quote me but from my recent research the talking points were something like:

Rams = most bang for your buck, but have are known for drivetrain/tranny & electronic issues. Also the interior looks cheap to me personally

Tundra = worst gas mileage and interior of the group. Probably the most mechanically reliable

GMC = best looking of the three from the outside, interior is kind of basic (I like it but not everyone does), also have tranny issues and aren't the most mechanically sound vehicles ever made although are a solid 7/10 with proper maintenance

Chevy = less good looking version of the GMC

Ford = I would never own a Ford and their engines haven't been around long enough to know their true reliability

I own a Sierra because I got a '19 SLT with 2,000 dealer miles with 20's, color matched fender flares, Frost white paint, both convenience packages (NAV), and the Bose for 40,0000. Ford, Chevy & GMC are all comparable. If I hadn't found that truck I would have kept looking and eventually found something used. I would buy whatever you get the best deal on. Unless you are loyal to a "brand" it basically boils down to the particular truck IMO. Nobody is making anything indestructible and nobody is making garbage either...
