Sometimes I've seen them for $90-95 but $100 is about what you'll find. Buy once, cry once thing. They are great for small engine stuff too that makes a giant mess if the drain plug is in a bad spot. Slam the tube down the oil fill hole or dipstick spot and it'll get just about all the oil out.

I can suck a hot transmission pan "dry" in a few minutes. I've done the last 3 oil changes on some of the family cars in the garage without even taking the drain plug out.

funny you mention that, I just bought a cheapo 12 volt fuel pump last week on Amazon for $12 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L8IHM9K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , it works amaizingly well for motor oil , trans fluid and gasoline, just solder on a set of battery clamps and it's a simple solution.

i use it mostly to drain gas from my motorcycle fuel tank and transfer to a holding tank, I will have to try it on the truck when i order the deep pan

Well, I haven't had time to do the job yet but I did drop the oem pan off at the local welding shop to get a drain plug added to it. I'm expecting to get it back early next week as they had lots of projects ahead of mine but the owner is a good friend of mine so I figure he'll slip a quick project like that in somewhere and get it done.

Alright, I finally tackled this project on a rainy Labor Day afternoon. I had my new OEM pan back from the local welding shop with the bung welded into it and a plug (non-magnetic) in it with a bit of Teflon tape. To be sure it would be leak proof, I put liquid in the pan overnight before installing on the truck to be sure everything sealed up with no seepage. The bung does stick down from the pan about a 1/2" or so, but he did a nice job of welding it flush with the bottom of the pan for maximum drainage.

There are a few photos of the new oem pan with the drain plug installed. The pan was around $20 from RockAuto, the bill for the welding shop was $26 and they didn't have a plug on hand, so it was less than $3 at the Ace Hardware store. For under $50, I was good to go with a new pan with plug.

I had watched several YouTube videos of pan drops and refills, so it wasn't too bad to do. The fluid was definitely in need of refreshing, it looked pretty brown and the magnet had quite a bit of sludge on it as well.

I got about 5 quarts out of it today with the pan drop, but will be doing another quick drain and fill again soon to get more of it out of the system.

(On a side note, I will be shipping the Camaro pan back to RockAuto because it was not the pan I used due to the location of that plug.)
