There may be other reasons, but as far as I know, max trailering package trucks don’t get shutters. Mine doesn’t have them.

That explains that.  I have the Max Trailering package.

Speaking of these, do they open in warmer temps? Mine have been closed so far.

Thought they all had shutters to shape the truck like an aerodynamic brick at high speeds. Have to look carefully through the front grille to see them edgewise; they are open when vehicle is stopped.

All of them do, but the trail bosses/AT4 dont.

in 2019 model year I couldnt get them optioned in the Trailboss. Maybe the salesman didnt know how to use the GM site well?

He told me that the NHT (max trailering) does have them available (why would they even have them available?)

My Bad, thank you for bringing this to my attn. ill do a little more research,

No account yet, but 2020 Silverado with 3.0l Duramax here. Same issue; I noticed the other day that the top shutter on the passenger side was missing. Checked for damage thinking maybe it got knocked loose by an errant bug, but there was no damage to the plastic. I assumed it must have been deleted, and planned to check with the dealership about it. Glad to see that it was probably intentional, though I'm curious why. I am thinking it has to do with the location of the air intake plenum and how much air this thing inhales.

I have a 2024 with a Duramax 3.0L. It does have the active grill and is also missing on the passenger side. I’m beginning to believe it’s missing to keep the engine cool if they stick shut from a malfunction.

Blade missing in front of the horns is so horn sound is not reduced when shutters are closed.

Most likely so DOT requirements are met for horn sound projection.

Just brought my `25 1500 with 5.3 home today. NHT package. No shutters here.

Correct.  I think NHT and then all VYU plow prep do not have shutters.  All others do.

Per GM

Sierra/Silverado Models equipped with upper and lower shutters, the top passenger-side louver/vane of the upper shutter is intentionally missing from the shutter assembly for airflow reasons. Do not replace the shutter for the missing louver/vane.

    • IMNTBHO;  the worst thing for the 6L80 is to be lugged down to low engine rpm while in high gear......AKA, to save fuel.   I rarely use D on my '16 with the 6L80 and use M mode to keep engine RPM above 1500 at the speed I'm driving, which is also benefiticial for the tranny because line pressure is kept up because the pump is actually turning a decent speed, and it's not always hunting to drop to the next gear to lower the engine RPM's.   Never above 30mph.............M3, maybe M4 if just driving thru a small NoDak town Never above 40mph............M4 Never above 50-55mph.............M5   This is way better for the tranny and the engine.........especially if AFM is still active.   262K miles on my OEM 6L80 as I type this.
    • If they had nuclear material for "11 nukes" we'd have seized it.    Our military has been rendered either too weak/dumb to seize it, or they don't have it. Your pick,K-nut. Because right now we're fighting over who gets to toll oil tankers in the strait.    I hope you're man enough to admit you've been taken for a ride when it's finished.

    • And you're obviously full of it too.  Apparently anything he does is perfect to you.  Don't you think this whole ordeal would have been better if he had maybe thought it all through first before bombing Iran at the request of his bffs in Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar?  They are the ones that had the biggest issue with Iran.  Thus they have been pouring the platitudes and giving gifts/bribes to him.  Had he thought about the consequences of what would happen to the Strait before starting anything, we wouldn't have this issue.  Now he is stuck with no way out of this mess.  But you have your head stuck way deep in his rabbit hole to see anything else.  So no, I don't have TDS.  I see what he is.  The derangement is yours from no oxygen in the rabbit hole.
    • Bringing of the fact that every President has said the same thing. They can’t have nukes. I guess you missed that before epic fury they said they had enough product for 11 nukes and weren’t giving it up. That not political or polarizing. The opposition of that is and giving aid to the enemy. The mandate is decades old through many administrations. The difference is TDS.
