I grew up a small town in NJ. Several of family members are teachers and administrators here in Texas. Through kids, grandkids I’ve stay involved in school. Living in the most conservative county in the state we’re more can do than can’t.

If you want the quality of education to stay the same, then we need a better plan than split session and online learning. I've been a supporter of full year schooling, with smaller breaks built into the year. It's not a can't, it's a will it work without major funding and change.  We want it done correctly, not quickly.

Have all staff wear masks and eye shields. Kids up to a certain age not(it’ll be difficult to have youngins wear). For example up to second grade perhaps.

Man you got that right.  Back then it was easy to keep up, our modern day Google was called encyclopedia Britannica.

The school system say they need funding to reopen, the federal government say reopen to get funding.  It's a Catch 22.  Unfortunately, parents and the government want the reopen to happen quickly, the school system want to reopen correctly.  We will reopen schools quickly.

The federal government, parents, or the school system are not the losers in this fight.

We'd like that to happen but my district has determined that students won't be required to wear them. I haven't read the CDC's recommendations yet because it's been reported that it may change. My wife will be wearing a full face shields when she goes back. She teaches the younger ones. My concern is the online learning. It doesn't work without the students' and parents' full support and commitment. That's difficult to achieve today with most families having both parents working, and single parents. It's gonna take a lot of time and resources to get this right.  I'm just waiting to get back into my school so I can start prepping.

We're actually losing funding and being told to do more. My district is losing about $1.5 million in state funding. We get practically nothing from the federal government, so that's a non-factor.

And teachers are already used to being ignored and losing. We get it done, usually at the expense of our sanity, or in my case my hairline. ?

I heard the president speak a few weeks ago that he told his Cabinet to cut testing.  How could what's going on in Florida, South Carolina, and Arizona be attributed to increased testing?

Read that if those three states were countries, they would rank 1, 2, 3 in most cases in the world for 7 straight days.

We're all insane, so you're ok there.  But hairline, what's that.

I am not an expert in the transmission of this disease and I know theories abound.  I also am entertained by how masks are used sometimes but I give credit to all for trying.  The greatest value for me is that a mask indicates the person is aware and making an effort.

An effort to what, virtue signal and be woke?  If one is not sick, there is no need to wear a mask.  If one is sick, they ought to stay home.  As of the 10th of July in the state of Florida, about 30,000 children and young adults from 0 to 20 have tested positive for Covid-19.  You know how many died from it? 5, two eleven year old children, one sixteen, one seventeen and one 20.  Healthy people don't die from this, those with health issues do, like those who are obese and or with diabetes, lupus, cancer, etc.  Every death is tragic but to disrupt the nation over this now that we have this knowledge base is ridiculous now.

Those teachers who are elderly and or infirm ought to not be around the kids until this thing blows over.  Back to work America!

Masks are a feel good measure, they do almost nothing in the way that people employ them.  The N95 mask filters down to .30 microns and the average size of Covid-19 is .13 microns.  What do you think surgical masks and scarves filter down to?

It's true that the Covid-19 virus is smaller than 0.30 microns. However, the virus doesn't travel by itself. It needs to attach to something, which happens to be water droplets from coughing and sneezing. Those water droplets are far larger than 0.30 microns, so the masks are effective.

I still don't see the issue with wearing a mask. I see people arguing that it infringes on their freedoms. So I'm to understand that a person's freedom to not be inconvenienced by a mask supercedes the health of another person?

We have over 130k+ deaths from Covid-19. How many do we have from wearing masks?

Top 3 nation's in Covid-19 deaths also happen to be the 3 nation's whose citizens are against masks. Coincidence?

In the 40's people feared the supposed threat of Japanese AMERICANS so much they rounded them up and placed them in internment camps to protect them?...Really? Sounds like we now want to round up everyone over 60 and put them in an internment camp to protect them as well. Why? So you don't have to wear a mask?

If the masks purpose is PRIMARILY to protect your fellow neighbor then refusing to wear it based on your supposed rights is nothing short of an act of hatred for your fellow neighbor. Nothing new there. We want what we want and we don't care who or how many get hurt as long was we free of ALL restraint. Freedom in the absolute.....

Fact is there is no such thing as absolute freedom. The law of gravity holds the earths atmosphere. Absolute freedom, really? How about the zoo and the bars between you and the big cats? How about we free them so we can the absolute freedom to experience their presents in our lives. To far out. Okay how about then we rescind the laws against murder, robbery, thief, rape, assault....you sure you want absolute freedom? How about property laws? Would like to be free to those as well?

Or perhaps what is really wanted to do as we love to do, act like a spoiled five year old stopping our feet and yelling, "Your not the boss of me"!!!

Yea, that sounds about right.

You do realize your whole argument can be reversed. Example: shutting down is saying to your neighbor I don’t care if you have kids to feed, my life is more important than feeding your family. So what you can’t work. I’m retired. And what was that rant about zoos? I think grandpa needs to take his medicine.

I believe the  "argument" was in support of wearing masks.  This is such an effortless step and it is unconscionable why anyone who is able would be so selfish to be bare faced in public.  Your example is part of the much larger issue.  We all agree that no one should go hungry and focus should be on ensuring this doesn't happen.  Minimizing the spread of Covid 19 requires doing things differently.  Keeping our citizens with the necessities of life does not mean letting the pandemic do its thing while life carries on as before.    A mask is a simple, effective step an individual can take with no negative outcomes.  The big issues will be insurmountable if we feel we have to protest such simple, basic precautions as  wearing a mask. As an aside, I understand the hesitation/embarrassment/self-consciousness/ awkwardness some may feel when initially adding a mask to their good looks.   I felt strange at first but now I feel embarrassed when not wearing a mask in public.

This would be true if knowledge of catching the virus was instantaneous. In the days, weeks (or never) leading up to your awareness, your gift spreads like branches on a tree.  I found that wearing a mask can also be contagious.   Others  recognize that you are wearing a mask out of respect for them.   There is no excuse for a  person who is able to wear a mask  not to wear a mask.

    • I'm looking at carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand and lumbar fusion.
    • While waiting for parts I have been working on installing the AC compressor, new accumulator, and orifice tube. Also changed out the high side ball valve (original). The orifice tube that was in there wasn't too bad. Slightly dirty, a little bit of junk, but not blocked. Glad I changed it out.   The accumulator, which should have been a 5 minute job, may have just burned $50. Put some PAG in it, wrote the date and mileage on the side, fresh o-rings and gooey'd up the threads and rings with Nylog. Got everything connected and snugged and was going to vacuum down the system, and....   My manifold gauge won't fit on the port. It's not an R12 service port. It LOOKS like an R134 service port but the diameter is a hair too large. There's a sticker on the accumulator that says it's designed to be used with R12 and R134a systems only. So it's not R1234yf. Even if I reduced the diameter slightly with a file, the shoulder on the port is too large so the quick-connect valve won't lock on. I'm stumped. It's going back, and 50/50 on if they'll give me a refund.   Also, I did a fuel pressure test.... Key on, the gauge spikes to about 60psi and quickly bleeds off, like 2psi per second. The fuel isn't going into the plenum, no smell, starts fine, so I'm guessing there's a bad check valve in the pump and the fuel is just draining back into the tank. oh, hell. But, it shouldn't be a problem, pump primes just fine and the truck starts right up. It just means I can't really ever use fuel pressure to verify a leak at the injector or intake.
    • Got this yesterday out of nowhere. Truck is a 25',6.6 gasser with 8k miles.  Only semi anomaly is that the truck had been sitting, uncranked for 6 days. Elec Stability Control showed immediately upon cranking, not while driving. No drivability issues, just the message. Battery didn't seem to be weak when cranking over.  I drove it, killed it, let it sit a few hrs with no avail.  Truck is 100% stock. No damage.
    • This can be done.  It is not cheap and requires an instrument cluster swap with custom programming, new steering wheel with the controls on it, and a special jumper harness.   The cluster upgrade - 12.3” Digital Cluster Upgrade – 2022.5–2026 Silverado / Sierra (T1 Refresh Pickup) - WAMS   The wheel upgrade - Steering Wheel Upgrade Kit – 2022.5–2026 Silverado / Sierra (T1 Refresh Pickup) - WAMS   The column harness upgrade - 2019 - 2026 Silverado / Sierra: Steering Wheel LIN Bus Harness - Harness Dr. - DIY Done Right     The problem with doing all of this?  You pretty much can't have any programming done to your truck that involves the cluster ever again.  The dealer won't be able to program the cluster as GM's system will only pull data for the cluster the truck came with.  So it would be advised also to turn off over the air updates.   TLDR;  Should have bought an LT double cab?  You'd have a power seat, the wheel controls, the cluster, all things that you've been seeking in your various posts so far about your new WT regular cab.
