What 12 ft apart, and a double mask? If the five minute testing isn’t enough nothing is.

I'm not sure what the additional precautions would be, but they would be used in the case that the test resulted in a false negative.

I'm back working since last Monday. Like I said earlier I'm a concrete contractor so most of my jobs are outside on either new construction or private residences. So far I've only had one of my main employees working with me. I'll need to call back the other two workers soon though.

My phone is actually ringing off the hook for estimates, which is kind of surprising to me.

I did 5 estimates yesterday and the first one the homeowner walked right up to me to shake my hand, I just kind of backed up and avoided shaking hands. I said that he could show me what he was interested in doing and I would take my measurements while keeping are distance. The next four places I went to, I really got the impression that no one was really trying to social distance. I had to mention it to each of them.

I get the impression everyone is just tired of the whole stay home stay safe thing and are ready to go back to normal life.

I walk into places like gas stations and grocery stores without a mask on and I've yet to run into anyone freaking out when they get close to me. Be it me walking past them or them coming close to me. I haven't notice much of a change in the distance thing as it was pretty normal already to not just stand next to someone in an isle or in line waiting for the cashier.

I do like watching people touch stuff with gloves on then they touch their phone, their clothes and face. Got some real bright people in this world.

Gloves aren’t much good for anything but one time use. For instance getting gas. I keep a pair in my vehicle for that. Then I take them off and sanitize my hands. Putting gloves on and leaving the house and taking them off arriving home is the same as not wearing them. When you go to the doctor he arrives to your room and puts on gloves. He deals with you takes off his gloves leaves the room. Their good for one time. Sanitize or wash your hands before you touch your face is the key. Gloves are a false sense of security if used wrong. Same with mask. Regular mask protect people from you. Not the other way around. Only hospital mask protect you from them. Putting mask on and gloves doesn’t do any good if you touch your face with them on. Or someone sneezes in your direction. Unless they have a mask on.

My dad and I both laugh at the same thing. Common sense is in short supply nowadays.

The fact is we need to open. Farmers are throwing away food. I’m seeing once thriving business close. Starvation is a bad way to go. I guess if all the mom and pop business go at least the China back business will thrive. One cruise line is about to give up, looking for a buyer. I’m seeing a growing list a business on the brink. The city of Dallas is laying off, I’m sure there’s more cities and counties doing the same. And on and on. The bad stuff hasn’t started yet. I know you wouldn’t budge, let’s stay home till whatever. It can’t be done.

I swear Stan, you could watch a hurricane blow a tree flat to the ground and still swear it never budged.

This whole episode reminds me of generational farms. The father says to the oldest son. It time for you to take over I’m old and weak. You’re young and strong. The father moves to the small side of the home with his wife. The son takes over the main part of the house and major farming duties. The work is dangerous and very hard. It’s needs to be done for food and maintain life. The older father does some work as does his wife. It’s a safer protected environment. Same with the children. It’s has to be done. It’s always been that way for sustaining life. The all could stay inside it would be safer. But soon the farm would die and all who depend on it. Some brave people see danger, they embrace it, prepare for it. They thrive in it. Seems lately some people wither in fear from it, hide from it. Eventually die from it. Some can’t see the forest for the trees. Don’t tell me what I can’t see. I see weakness and fear.

My daughter is a barber. She rents a chair. Friday they allow them to go back to work. She wasn’t happy about it. Sunday we stopped by. She changed her tune. All it took was money and people . She was fine on unemployment especially adding the other handouts. What changed. The costumers were so happy. They observed the rules. Tipped really well. She made her normal weeks income in a day in half. Most importantly the interaction with people. She gotten used to isolation, she didn’t realize she’d gotten depressed. She was very excited about going to work again.

I’m reading some kids are being affected, not many but some. I wonder. Do the parents know about kids under 18 and aspirin? Just wondering.

It's possible, ASA is associated with Reye's syndrome in children that have been given aspirin with viral infections such as influenza or chickenpox. But Reye's syndrome is different than the acute circulatory inflammation being seen in toddler age children in NY. However the Wuhan virus is a different animal, so a different response to ASA is not out of the realm. Hopefully the PharmD's in NY are able to interview the affected children's parents by phone if nothing else to get medication histories that should shed some light on this possibility.

Stan you don't even know what I meant by the tree do you? Your not listening. This entire story while not wasted was also not about anything I said.

Let me try a different way.

I've been on one side of the room and you on the other. We are watching the same thing unfold. In the very start you were, "Let her Rip" and after a dozen pages or so softened to "flatten the curve". So you've allowed yourself to move from your original stand to a modified stand shaped by the news and the data. Great for you!! (Not the first time I've said this).

I started on the "shelter in place' until this thing has a final resolution, i.e. vaccine. And over dozens of pages have softened to 'essential businesses until the '''curve flattened' but 'at a point that leaves reserve in the health care system to allow free access to all services for EVERYONE", young and old alike. Then resume in a data driven fashion so as not to once again overrun the health system. I've even agreed that that will be different for different regions. Yet you have refused to hear this shift in thought.

The winds have bent me nearly flat and yet you refuse to see I've moved at all.

WHY?

Trump says the stage where he gives the C-19 brief is too small to have adequate distance from Pence.  I agree, but why does both need to be up there at the same time?

They’re all isolated and get tested frequently.

You and I are also isolated, just because we're tested frequently means we don't need to maintain distance. They can be isolated, tested frequently, and give separate briefings is the right answer.

I think they have it figured out

Ok...

It's probably time to change the plan before there is no one left to give a live brief. Then again, why do we need a live brief?

I don't notice freaking out either, but I give as much space as possible to people walking around without a mask.

Haven't seen that in a while, didn't think that folks still shook hands.
