Can you post some pics of your Diamondback setup? I’m interested in doing something like that but don’t know what I’m going to use for occasionally mounting my rooftop tent (my kids love it - and it keeps them contained haha).

I still like Yakima. Only way to “nicely” get a rack on top of my tonneau cover. Retrax with the rack. Now, stage two coming this summer, is a roof top tent on a second set of feet between the two

here's a rack i made for my rooftop tent. the steel cost me 57 bucks and it took about 4 hours to make including drinking beer and bullshitting.

 

angle iron keeps it in place and i drilled 2 holes on each side and bolted it to the box. works pretty good.

 

wishing i would have got the 6'6 box so the tent could be flush with the cab, but this way i can jam the quad in there if i air down the tires enough.

This works out and allowed me to place two bike trays on the side of it, all loaded. The truck still gets 17mpg on the freeway with just the tent, and 15.x with the tent and bikes loaded.

Hey Guys, I bumped into this post and I thought I'd chime in. We are developing modular (real modular) bed racks using the popular T-Slot extrusion. Tons of configuration possible, many accessories coming up and starting at a great price ($579 for a barebones, but fully functional). Check it out at  - www.xtrusion-overland.com

Great topic.  I'm not an overlander and am mostly interested in a ladder rack that works with a locking tonneau cover.  My research basically revealed a couple options: retrax with a Yakima hd system or TracRac SR with a Peragon cover.  I'm going with the latter... Had the same system on my old f150 and was quite happy.  I like the retrax and look of the black Yakima rack, but the cost is kinda crazy.

I didn't know I needed this until I saw this. Now I want it on my Trail Boss! That being said, you guys need more pictures on your site for all of the options you are going to offer (like the various heights, finishes, and what that heavy off-road reinforcement plate is for).

That is what I have and love it. I went with the taller one so I could walk underneath. I have a "changing room" attachment that attaches to the bottom of the tent.

I built one for my Tundra, and now I’m using it on my TB. Fit is close but not perfect as I made it to bolt to the Toyota bed rail system. Made my own because I wanted a low profile design... and because I’m cheap. Can definitely hold an rtt, but I like it to hold stuff while the dogs ride below in beds under the mesh tarp. Pic with no basket is Tundra

I ordered the same rack about 4 weeks ago waiting on it to come in. Do you have anymore pics of it? Looks like yours is on some sort of platform?

The tent is a Camping labs, I have had it for awhile. It was mounted on my off-road camper and I am trying to downsize. 

 

I fabbed up a rail to put between the rack and the truck to give me extra height so I can roll open my tonneau cover. Plus, I wanted to use the stake pockets. They make standoffs, but I didn't want to drill holes into the truck bed. I used existing holes in the pockets.

      So I purchased the Range unit for my 2026 and I am seeing different locations suggested for the ECM . Can anyone confirm wither under hood, left side or right side or behind the wheelwell?

      Like I've said before. Di and Carbon buildup is not that big of a concern. Engine had minimal buildup, and that engine was obviously not super well maintained. Do regular oil changes, and you're gtg as long as the rest of the truck lasts. Also, the High Pressure FP that people ****** about, but can't tell you why.  Now, I wish they'd trash the variable oil pump. No real world issues with them, but I'll gladly eat whatever miniscule MPG it's saving me in favor of more oil at all RPMs.    Curious to see his assessment of the 7.3 compared to the 6.6. I expect he'll praise the port inj, but from a structural standpoint, the 6.6 is as robust as any engine out there.    Not to take away from the 7.3. I feel it's equally as good as the 6.6.     As to heat on the rear cyls, I'd have to see numerous examples before I'd say it's an issue. Especially not knowing the history of that engine. For all is known, they could have blown a rad hose, and ran it hot, and the 2 rear cyls may be the first to get hot in a low coolant situation, but not be an issue aside from that.

      "Life is getting back to normal."    I'm driving again and all new joints are operating as expected for this stage of recovery.   My most recent joint replacement still requires a lot of attention but experience has taught me that time will quiet the remaining pain.  I joked with my surgeon that another joint replacement would take my mind off my most recent surgery and he responded by saying the next will be a hip!  There are no plans for another surgery but, unlike me, I don't think he was joking!  I certainly wouldn't refuse further replacement  if required but hope to spend time out of the "post-op"  period.  I can't stress enough that if you have been recommended for total hip, knee or shoulder replacement that you welcome the offer.  Post-op "recovery" may sound daunting and painful, however, this is far better than the insidious erosion of mobility you are currently experiencing.  Imagine what it would feel like to wake up most mornings feeling better and more mobile than you did the previous day!  Prior to my first surgery in June 2025, even getting out of bed was becoming a formidable task.  Since the day after my first surgery, I get out of bed everyday easily and unassisted.  Making the switch to feeling a little better each day rather than a little worse, is hugely motivating!
