I hear ya. My wife REALLY wanted me to get the chrome. I told her the only way I would buy chrome letters was if they threw in a set of curb feelers and spinner hubcaps 

 

I went with black letters with silver outline and am very happy. Will post a pic in a sec. 

 

p.s. I ordered black letters first and they did not show up at all. The silver outline does the trick.

Those look good. They show up better than the BD Trims black.

I got red outlined with black lettering for my white trail boss coming. I think it will look good with the trail boss logo on the bed sides. Still havent decided if i want to de badge the model chrome letters under tho

Cool.  I left the 6.2L, Silverado, and LT badges in chrome.  They match the lug nuts and the Z71 emblem.  Good luck with the tailgate letters.  I really like the look of mine.  Post a pic once completed.

I don’t know if you know, but they have redline letters for Silverado and LT.  They are black with the red edging just like your Chevy letters.

I did the matte black vinyl letters from GM, but I've also completely de-chromed my truck, except the Z71 badges on the grille.

First pic is night time with direct light from garage. Second pic is a cloudy day with no direct light from garage. I love the matte black vinyl on my dark blue truck.
