A friend use to drive a diesel Rabbit. Use to get pretty close to 60mpg (open highway) if my memory is correct.

The Mazda 2 Coupe (Toyota iA in the USA) I owned for a short while before I traded it for Pepper was over 50 mpg...

CXS Freight claims they can move 1 ton of freight 500 miles on ONE gallon of diesel. (diesel/electric hybrid).

The technology is there.....the willingness to use it is weak.

There is no doubt that rail is a very important part of intermodal freight transport. As efficient as rail is, it pales in comparison to barges. However barge transport is pretty much limited to the Mississippi/Ohio and Columbia/Snake river systems. The rail companies have complained for years that they are at a competitive disadvantage to barges because of the federal subsidy provided by the Bureau of Reclamation and Army Corp of Engineers for construction and maintenance of dams and locks. They may have a point, however historically railroads have gotten huge federal subsidies of their own in the form of right-aways and large blocks of land in the west for simply building a rail line. Sorry for going way off topic.

That's why I said drive, but not own.

Kinda like renting a sports car once in awhile to relieve the itch.

I won't be owning a Hellcat or GT500 either.

Whenever I get the itch I test drive performance vehicles . One thing I noticed in the horsepower wars on public streets. There’s a horsepower threshold once reach your paying for bragging rights. Once all the driving and traction aids kick in your not feeling it. Not on the street. All wheel drive helps. Even the normal factory hot rods that are reasonable priced. 0-60 full horsepower use is a challenge. Even my mild tuned 14 GMC 5.3 on E-85 would flash the light merging on the freeway at times. My 92 blown truck had no problem breaking loose most anytime. I never thought I’d say it this high horsepower stuff is mostly wasted money.

Yes there is poly-ticks in everything. I was speaking only of the science and technology.

There is a red one about 25 miles from me. Not all the colors are that ugly. New battery is about $3K ish with install included. But they don't go bad often. I would consider a car like this on two conditions. 1.) It isn't UGLY and I think this one is cute. 2.) only for to and from and  around town. Even this one is a hybrid and would go much much further.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, brother, you’ve got some really UGLY taste. In Texas, a few years back, a truck wiped out the whole family. The whole vehicle (same vehicle) from back to front disintegrated, killing 4. Was an illegal alien! Want to save money, ride a bicycle and stay in your lane.
I can’t stand CRV’s and Hybrids especially when the cheap ass libtard wanting to save gas is driving ON THE FAST LANE!!!! Lol, I’LL NEVER BUY AN EV unless I can do far beyond 100mph
