Hi all has anyone else had this issue? Today I was going power washing and noticed this for my first time . Mind you this is after I had the truck sprayed down with Krown rustproofing.. any help would be great .everything underboady that has factory coating is now bare metal or going to be . I can peel off the coating with my fingernail...  Looks like the krown and the coating had a reaction to each other?? Truck is a 2020 TB 7000 miles . Any suggestions ? Will GM cover this ?

Spraying rustproofing over factory coating not a good idea. Should have removed the factory coat first.

GM ain’t gonna touch that mess. Definitely looks like the Krown reacted. Factory coating ain’t the greatest but I pressure wash it all the time and never have that happen. Gonna have to take everything you can reach to bare metal and re-apply something. Hope for the best inside the frame where you can’t reach and keep it fogged with Fluid Film or something.

So the company that did this is at fault?

They should have known better in my opinion.

I would say they are! They should have know better. I’d try getting them to fix this mess.

For archival purposes. These pictures are of my 2107. Krown product has been applied 4 times. There is one small spot on the frame about the size of a nickle where the factory coating has come off.

Kind regards.

GM has used Daubert Nox-Rust frame wax since at least 2014. Seems more likely that the Krown changed, or varies by location if it’s mixed on site, or was over-applied? No clue but the GM side of things hasn’t changed.

Thats what they use at dealerships to repair frames, did GM tell you they have used it on the frames from factory?

Frames are hung by the front and dipped in a tank of a wax product. Bolt in cross members (not wax dipped) are added later.

They've been dipped at least since Magna got the business with the hydroform frames for the start of for the GMT800 program 20 years ago.

There has been a Daubert product available for touch-ups as least that long.

The coating should be smooth.

The pics in this thread appear show a 'rough' surface on the frame -- overspray from undercoater reacting with the frame coating?

Since they are in the business, there is a pretty good chance Daubert supplies the factory dip product as well.

Did you read what i wrote? i know how they are dipped. So you dont know if thats the actual product thats used on the entire frame you guessed, that is whats used at dealerships to repair peeling frames. Gm has never mentioned who the supplier is and i worked for them
