I have a 2019 LT TrailBoss and I put the Range box in it to disable DFM...  My wife just picked up a new 2022 RST Z71 with the 5.3L and I am wondering if hers has DFM, and if I should disable that to help avoid lifter issues...

I am reading that due to chip shortages, some trucks don't have DFM enabled...  How do I determine if her truck is one of those?

It will have a YK9 RPO code is DFM is deleted. It should also say "DFM Disabled" or something similar on the window sticker. Otherwise, it still has it.

Regardless of what other people say, you will almost certainly be fine keeping DFM enabled. The percentage of lifter issues compared to total vehicles sold with this engine is somewhere in the realm of 0.1-0.5%. You're more likely to completely total the car in an accident versus having lifter issues. The internet can sometimes (most times) makes things seem way worse than it is.

Where would I find that code?

RPO codes can be found in your glove box. There is a QR code. Scan it with your phone and copy it to a notes app or something. It will list out all your vehicles optioned codes.

Sweet!  I will do that this afternoon.  Thanks.

Just look at the upper right corner of window sticker. It will state either 5.3 with DFM or 5.3 w/o DFM.

NOT in the glovebox.  The QR is in the driver's door jamb.

They changed a couple years ago from the label in the glovebox to the QR code on the door post.

Phone camera can read the QR code.

Depending of phone, might need to download an app.

QR code won't be a complete list of the codes.

Any dealer can print full listing from the vin.

GM social media might send you a complete sheet.

It'll say 'CREDIT - NOT EQUIPPED WITH DYNAMIC FUEL MANAGEMENT - $50' in the options section of your window sticker.
