1997 Sierra 1500, rear differential, Pinon Seal and Oil Fill Plug.

Greetings all,

I have a 1997 1500, with a 8 5/8 diff and I am looking for part numbers / vendors to purchase the rear Pinon Seal and Oil Fill Plug. Yes,  I have searched but I am coming up with all kinds of Seals and not sure what size the oil fill plug is.  

 

Since I am replacing the real pinon seal, is there anything else I should inspect / replace.  

 

Any and all information will be greatly appreciated. (if you need  the VIN to find the correct parts, here it is 2GTEK19R4V1537117)

probably should just go to your local  NAPA store or a local independant parts store. you will get more personalized service than the chain stores

check the yoke where the seal rides, if theres a groove worn in it they make a repair sleeve

also get a new lock nut  and make sure you follow the torque procedure

plug should be 3/8 pipe thread
