Cadillac just released their new Escalade V. Supercharged 6.2L V8 produces 682HP.

First large vehicle in recent times that GM is giving their supercharging treatment too. Perhaps this shows they may do it to the Silverado soon.

Yea, I read about it. 150K. I’m thinking loaded suburban and Camaro. The rest for gas and insurance.

I had this on my wish list if it was right at $100k. When I saw $150k. I rolled my eyes and said WTF!!!!  I can supercharge my Silverado and buy a brand new ZL1 Camaro convertible and still not have $150k into both of them.
Don’t get wrong, it’s a badass machine and

GM will sell everyone of them though….just not my money. Outrageous!!!

I've had a few factory performance vehicles in my day. The problem lately is you can’t just buy a little more performance without them throwing the kitchen sink at it. For the pleasure of going 0-60 in a little over 1 second quicker it cost 50K more. Of course I wouldn’t pay that kind of money for a dressed up suburban anyway. There’s just two many other performances options out there from manufacturers that know what they’re doing cheaper. The last time GM did a performance SUV right was the trailblazer ss . The last car was the SS it was an import. The trucks have been pretty good for awhile. They mess them up with cylinder deactivation.

I'm sure it will appeal to some at that price point, but definitely not me.  Hell, you could get a C8 and a LOADED Silverado for 150K.  That thing costs more than my first house.

Could have bought one new in 2017 for 42K and some are now going for over 50K with 30,00 miles on them.  Sure wish I hade bought one when I had the chance, Holden did it right :)

I’ve had 13 Impalas, my last was a 94 all rear drive. My son currently drives one. My local Chevy dealer had an Holden SS discounted 10K when  they were discontinued for 40K. I was still working so it would be my wife’s. She loved Impalas too. She was driving a Genesis. She still is. It is an amazing car so I don’t blame her. I would have bought it. It wouldn’t do well on pipelines. I did enough walking on pipelines when I had the trailblazer ss.

I wish, but it would be in the highest trim trucks with insane starting prices. One thing if they have the same MSRP as a TRX(78k) but I doubt it would be that cheap.

Lots of guys say they want this, but few will pay for it, and those that really would pay for, have probably already had Hennessey do it.  You can probably add at least $15k to the truck price knowing GM, and if you really want it.  You can order a Hennessey upgrade to a supercharger from the dealer on a new truck, or have them mod your current truck.   Not only that, but in a factory truck, now you have the same problem as Raptor's and TRX's, huge market adjustments.

The Escalade is a great example......the current most expensive Escalade you can build right now is about $125k.....and that's adding in every ridiculous add on you can check..refrigerator....performance everything, sunshade, brakes, exhaust, $3k wheels....yet the new supercharged one STARTS at $150k.    For that $ you can buy a new CT5-V blackwing and an AT4.   Even in the CT5, moving to the the supercharged 6.2 in a blackwing is a $25k option.

Possibly, with the new Raptor R coming to take on the TRX, but I'm not holding my breath. GM is scared of their own shadow.

It's true GM has never really been successful in marketing an off-road vehicle.....even the ZR2 S10's were not that well received.   The Z71 package has always been a joke, just some moderate tires and shocks and a Z71 sticker.    GM has always done better making SS vehicles, they'd probably do better making another SS street pickup with a supercharged 6.2 in it.

Prices are insane right now, but I'll say it and guys won't like it......the ZR2 and AT4x are still way behind the Raptor in off road and tech.   The raptor has a linkage rear, WAY more wheel travel, way more articulation, it's faster, it has more tech, it comes factory with 35/37 tires, it has a much a more sophisticated 4wd and suspension setup.  More ground clearance, a pano roof, a 2000 watt inverter, a 36 gallon tank, 4:10 rear end, dynamic bending headlights,  aux switches, better seats.  The list goes on an on.   The only thing the AT4x/ZR2 have going for them is the front rear lockers which won't do as much for you off road as more clearance, bigger tires, more articulation and more suspension travel of the Raptor will.   The only other thing it has going for it is massage seats.

They are all lifted pavement pounding princesses!!!  No one paying those prices are taking them seriously off road for their intended purposes. Never have liked lifted trucks.

I totally agree with you on the “SS” model. GM should market the hell out of it and be the first to really offer a sport truck. Trucks have turned into luxury family haulers. Might as well give it an aggressive stance, dual exhaust, supercharged, paddle shifting    machine.
Unfortunately good old liberal 👎🤦‍♂️Mary has her mind set on EVs which is still way to far off from where it needs to be at.

    • I agree with Tim.  As tech heavy as engines are these days, no way I’d be an early buyer of the new 6.6.  Of course, I bought my ‘26 Denali w/the 6.2 after dumping my Tundra with it’s defective 3.5 liter imploding engine disaster, so I’m a little gun-shy.  That said, my 6.2 has been rock solid.  I don’t drive it like I do my BMW Z4 M40i, but I don’t baby it either.  I got a V8 for a reason.  But I’m averaging 18 around town and 22 highway.  I have seen 24 highway as well when I wasn’t loaded up heavy.  Considering my Tundra with the twin turbo V6 only got 14.5 in town and 17 on the road, I’ll take the 6.2 all day, every day.  If I were you, I’d grab a ‘26 while you can.  Inventories are probably gonna start dropping and I’ll bet the deals will start looking sweeter as well.
    • I am curious if anyone has figured out a way to add an hard button AUX or 360 Camera switch to the center row of switches. I have a 2021 AT4, and want to split the hill decent button and add a 360 camera button so that you don't have to go into the center display and locate the camera functionality, etc...   My father's 2024 Yukon XL AT4 and it has a hard button, see below. I found this thread on the Yukons, but it seems like there may not be a part number for the 2021 sierras. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/255339-adding-hard-button-for-camera-on-2021/ Anyone else figured this out. Seems like it would need to be a custom switch!   I am getting ready to install the auto stop/start eliminator, so would be nice to knock them out at once.     Upvote1Downvote0Go to comments
    • Looks like the entire state is burning. 😬
    • Through the years it hasn't been my typical method as I tried to drop oil on an engine that was hot from having been worked, however that was not always practical and had to fire up a unit and let it warm up reasonably well and drop the oil when I had the time to do it but am referring to not only vehicles but a variety of farm equipment and highway tractors etc. However on a vehicle where one is crawling under it and the exhaust is nearby to ones body and if wanting to pull the plug without danger of being hit with boiling hot oil or attempting to remove a HOT oil filter, its sure safer and easier to not have everything smoking hot and can remove the filter right away when under the vehicle and let it all drain. Of course its not the end of the world if a bit of oil stays in the engine that might have eventually found its way out, I like to get out as much as possible but any oil changes that take place in shops would rarely be sitting around for very long at all before the plug is thrown back in and filter slapped on and oil poured in and sent out the door quick like. There would be very little time spent ( assuming they even did it ) in starting the engine with oil to fill the filter, then waiting to verify the level on the stick. A good reason to check ones oil level shortly after a shop changed the oil on a vehicle just to make sure its correct and to look under for any oil around the drain plug or filter.
