I have a 2020 lt trail boss. I was going to change front diff fluid so I drove around a bit first. When I went to get front cover off it was very warm mor like hot. I’m guessing it shouldn’t be. Didn’t change oil going to bring to dealer but thought I should see what others think about how warm it should ever get.

Normal.  You drove it.  Driving generates heat in the diffs, transfer case, trans, engine, etc.

Not sure why you'd think it wouldn't be?

Normal. There is FRICTION between the meshing gears, heat will be generated. C'mon man! :)

I know but 4K d would need to be on right? Also I guess it’s hotter than I would expect. Like I almost can’t touch it

It's OK, if not you have a warranty to take care of it. 😉
